Broughton injured himself and didn't play preseason, he was never a good pick this year and will take while to get back to form.
The worry is that even when he does, most teams now lock a forward tag on him to stop his run. Get off now.
1. He never injured himself
2. He played most preaeason games
3. He never gets a forward tag, Duffield gets the tag
hahaha this is commonly called " put in your place"

ahhh but yeh i have broughton as well.. sick of his crappy scores.. n i hate sideways trading but what if he turns into a hargrave.. giving serious thought to trading to adcock. preti sure he has a b/e of -36 or something as well...

Andrew3737

Ahh yeah he did. He has been struggling with his hammy and back issues since last season. Been playing back pocket instead of his HB.

I would actually know this.

Bluke

Adcock has a bye this week though Thornz.

Are you going to drop him early? Or give him another week? Or select someone else?

I think Suban is a possibility. So is Gram, but he has a bye also. There is also Enright...

dale93

Duffield is a bargin at the moment if he drops about 20k in the next few weeks i will be getting on him......

Mish

Trade Trade Trade...

i have him and will be keeping him for the season. he will come good.

TMurphBROWNLOW

because broughton's breakeven is 142 (seemingly impossible for him atm) it would be very wise to trade him out this week yes?

Bazinga

Strange that everyone wants to jump off after a couple of poor scores, but no-one wants to jump off Goddard after his poor start to the season.

i think its more the fact that some people believe he is injured also the fact it appears his role has changed. Whereas Stkilda in general are just playing bad.

Blueboys

Bet the week you trade him he pulls a 130+ game!  :-X

Bluke

Goddard is still avg 86. And while that isnt what we are used to from him, it is servicable.

Broughton was more of a gamble, has a history of injury problems etc.

His BE is sky high right now, if you are contemplating trading him then now is the time to do before he drops more value after this week. He's not going to hit his BE, although I'll admit its possible he could come close I still think its unlikely.

People who think he's going to come in need to strap themselves in and be prepared for him to loose some value.

There is no point holding him past this week though if you're worred about him. Better to drop him now when you can still straight swap him to most premium defenders.

Disco

Freo have Kangas at home. keep him one more week and see

Slap

He is a keeper, keep him.  Im sure everyone has weaker links in their teams than Greg Broughton.  The kid is a gun.

Upgrade him towards the end of teh season if he hasn't pulled out the consistent 90's.

Memphistopheles

The only problem is the most likely candidate to trade Broughton for is Jed Adcock who has a bye this week.

So is it worth keeping Broughton a week in the meantime?

Otherwise who would you get instead?

There is no perfect candidate.

The Contenders

Nick Suban

Age: 21
Price: $273,100
Team: Freo
BE: 22
Next 4: North Melbourne (H) Dogs (A) Richmond (H) West Coast (H)
Bye: Rd 6 (Haw + Geel)

2009
Avg: 54.8
Games: 22

2010
Avg: 59.9
Games: 14

2011
Avg: 86.3
Games: 3

Breakdown: So far this season he has a 74, 86 and 99. The increasing progression of his scores is a positive sign. His BE of 22 is low meaning he should push above 300k this week if he scores his avg. North Melbourne arnt the toughest opponent the Dockers could face. The question will be who goes to Thomas and Garlett? I'm inclined to think that Duffield and Broughton will pick them up although maybe Valk or someone who knows the Dockers better than I can provide more insight. Suban looks to be the spare man back, or at least has been given a license to leave his direct opponent and run the ball through the centre. A role that Duffield played to perfection in 2009, and Broughton played well in 2010.

Corey Enright

Age: 30
Price: $382,500
Team: Geelong
BE: 122
Next 4: Sydney (A) Haw (A) North Melbourne (H) Collingwood (H)
Bye: Rd 6 (Haw + Freo)

2009
Avg: 89.7
Games: 22

2010
Avg: 91.8
Games: 21

2011
Avg: 97.3
Games: 3

Breakdown: Enright is a tried and tested gun defender. The main point holding me back from selecting him is his high BE and his bye in rd 6 means he could be a cheap(er) pick up in rd 7. Unless of course you have a scheduled midfield upgrade to make around that time (like I do). It is possible he could hit his high BE, he has smashed 120+ scores out in the past? His last 4 games against Sydney have all be below 85 however, meaning another drop in price is likely.

Brady Rawlings

Age: 30
Price: $384,300
Team: North Melbourne
BE: 111
Next 4: Freo (A) Richmond (H) Port (H) Geelong (A)
Bye: One Down one more during DT finals.

2009
Avg: 78.1
Games: 20

2010
Avg: 92.5
Games: 22

2011
Avg: 90
Games: 2

Breakdown: Has scored a 104 and a 76 so far, although the 76 was against the Pies so he can be forgiven. Question is if he can beat his BE. Should come close so shouldnt suffer a massive rise or fall and the fact he hasnt got a bye now until finals time is a massive plus. A bit of a unique pick and very durable. Only had one season over 80 ppg avg. Which was last where he scored 92.5 ppg. A very attractive pick if you think he can back up last year. Someone like Holzman want to comment on why his scoring increased dramatically last year? Change of role? Has Scott taken him of the leash? Can he keep it up? Very durable player over the course of his career, much the same as Enright.

Jason Gram

Age: 27
Price: $363,300
Team: Saints
BE: 77
Next 4: Brisbane (A) Adelaide (A) Carlton (H) Hawthorn (A)
Bye: First bye this week so would be an option after this weekend.

2009
Avg: 91.8
Games: 21

2010
Avg: 84.2
Games: 14

2011
Avg: 101.3
Games: 3

Breakdown: Has been in good touch so far this season posting two tons already. The loss of Hayes bodes well for Grams scoring potential, promising more midfield time. Question remains whether he can recapture his 2009 form, and at this stage that looks possible. Problem could arrise in the Saints second bye when most teams will have Goddard out already. Which will hurt your over all scoring output.

Jedd Adcock

Age: 26
Price: $293,100
Team: Brisbane Lions
BE: -13
Next 4: Saints (H) Richmond (A) Gold Coast (A) Essendon (H)
Bye: First bye this week so would be an option after this weekend.

2009
Avg: 84.5
Games: 15

2010
Avg: 63.2
Games: 3

2011
Avg: 96
Games: 3

Breakdown: Adcock has had a number of injury interupted seasons. Although when he has had his body right (2007) he returned 88.5 ppg. An impressive avg for the then 22 year old. If he can keep fit he looks like a good pick in a team which is sure to struggle, meaning Adcock will see a lot of ball. Hopefully he doesnt get to many of those ultra defensive roles like we saw him play in rd 1.

Other to Consider
Brian Lake: Got the bye this week and scored low so probably worth waiting at least 4 weeks to make sure he has bottomed out. Thus probably not a suitable trade option for broughton.

Heath Scotland: Most people already have Gibbs, although he is also a very servicable player.
