I am keen to get this superstar in this week but for who.
My fowardline is
Buddy, Goodes, Johnson, Yarran, Knights, Tapscott, Matera
I am tempted to get rid of buddy coz he is costing me but i am scared he might come out and kick 6.2 instead of 2.6
they are playing richmond so he should dominate.
should i trade out yarran. he is playing collingwood, cost me rnd 1 and only scored good last week coz they played gold coast
what should i do

elephants

trade for yarran if you have to trade.

if i was forced to bring in dawes i would drop yarran, dont even think about franklin, if it was my choice though i wouldnt get in dawes

Montag

yea but with a be of -24 and a garunteed 70 most weeks coz everyone in collingwoods side dominates he will skyrocket. dont want to miss the train

Sure you can think about it as 'missing the train'  but at the expense of a trade - is it worth it?

Alternatively, you could target him as an early upgrade target when your rookies mature a bit.  If he is still pumping out 100's he'd be worth whatever you'd pay for him.

This but also think...

He'd be worth what you paid if still paying out and you look at it now as "missing the train" because he might go up what say 80-90k...

If you wait a few weeks Tapscott's price rise will be larger than what Dawes' will be, so in a way it's costing you less, i.e. Tapscott > Dawes now would be 190k Tappy 90k odd Dawes 280k odd...

6 weeks later... Tapscott - 250k and Dawes 370k... only costing you 120k.

Sure Dawes might be more $ in a few weeks, but you get to check that this form should last through the season, you get more time to analyse if Yarran/other is worth it

And if you do get him, he'll still be worth your $.

I suggested dumping Buddy for Dawes, which wasn't a popular notion. I reckon it's still a viable option as Franklin will prob go down 30K this week, while Dawes will rise significantly. So you make money on the trade, then when Yarran has risen (which I reckon he should, R1 was a one off, I hope) you can spend a little bit to get him back if necessary. Everyone's getting all hot under the collar about trades - we've got 24 this year. And I've been in positions where  I've had bulk trades and no cash to get anyone decent because I didn't have the guts to take a few money making risks throughout the year. Players on the slide should be dropped for players on the rise where bank can be made on both the trade and the price rise.

Alternatively, trade Yarran out as GC may have been the only reason he racked up the points. Or listen to everyone who says hold your trades. Personally, I think it's an ideal week to do some smart trading before the prices go up, then sit for a while.

I should qualify my statements, there are many DT coaches out there who develop little moisture patches in their underwear at the mere thought of Buddy and then there are others who think he's not quite all that and a bag of chips. I am definitely in the latter category.

Montag

ohhhhhhhhh
ummmmmmmm
im still stuck to do.
ill wait to teams come out but i am tempted to go buddy to dawes. you make a good point cam. i had rioli all pre season then traded him to buddy on the last day. i don't like the inconcistency you get with buddy. hey if he gets some form i can trade yarran to him anyway so i think thats what ill do

Cam DM

Yeah, I'm almost convinced to trust my instincts and trade Buddy out for Dawes and JPK to Pendles. Still thinking maybe JPK to Libba but, just not sure about him because I will need him to play for a bit if he comes in. Will make some cash though, of course. Buddy could very well come out and poleaxe the Tigers this week though!  :-\

Bluke

Man, Buddy is gonna kick 10 against Astbury this week...

thornz23

was just about to say the same thing bluke. if buddy doesnt pump out 120+ this week i will be extremely surprised.

if you want to trade out a player who has  a would rate a 90% chance of averaging in the top 3 forwards than so be it. Most people say dont trade out keepers, but you should never ever trade out super premiums. If your willing to drop guys like franklin why not go goddard to enright instead and montagna down to boyd.

nails os spot on..... make our cash on tapscott, then trade up to dawes.....

for now, save the trade....

there are lots of trains you will want to catch all year, but you cant be on all of them! for now you are on the tapscott train.

ps, i have dawes, but not tapscott....
