backline: goddard, deledio, gibbs, everitt, lower, duigan, otten (coad, stanley, astbury)

forwards : n reiwoldt, goodes, franklin, yarran, knights, krak, petrie (richardson, matera darling)

trade thoughts

yarra to tapscott- but rd 5 bye without goodes, darling and taspcott (at this stage would have cover but touch and go)
everitt to heppel - (definite)

positives - a lot of cash freed up and even if rd 5 issue could use cash to upgrade forward line mid pricer or might need another trade depending on knights/ petris (injury risk) rookie (js) franklin (report)

or trade yarran to dawes - midpricer to mdpricer - no rd 5 issues less cash

risk vs reward or too risky?

cortez

How about you keep yarran. He scored well on the weekend and had a bad game the week b4. Everyone has bad games. He could keep scoring over 100. I wouldn't trade him

tigerboy

i dont think he'll do well. tough next few rds as well

rd 3 collingwood
rd 4 essendon
rd5 adelaide
rd 6sydney
rd 7 st kilda

most likely wont scores well against collingwood, st kilda and sydney.

not sure about adeliade and essendon..

qyeuries about tags and gcs is not really a good way to assess how good he is.. saying that hes had one bad game against richmond

Well if you wanna trade him. Would prob say tapscott. Will make you more money and prob average nearly as much if not more than dawes.

who cares if he playing against good sides

your just assuming that cuz the blues are playing good teams yarran wont score well???

just cause the blues lose doesnt mean yarran will have a bad game.

tigerboy

the other issue is dawes a good pod?

yea i agree ando-10 im not sure. i feel that sometimes we tend to hang on to players too long thinking they will come good and thye might in rd6 or 7 but in the mean time u lost so much ground on the overall points u stuffed..

bluedreamin

My, my, the first price change does make people jumpy!

Yes, sometimes we hang onto players too long but after only 2 rounds it's a bit hard to make that call. What you see at the start of every year are players you have not chosen doing better than the ones you have chosen. Who is to say that trend will continue? With so much doubt one way or the other you are better staying with the incumbent - for if there is only one thing you learn from fantasy football it should be "trades are golden".

ajjewell

There is too much that can go wrong with trades like this you are better off giving yarran a few more weeks then make a decision then based on more data

if you didn't think he would score well in these games why did you put him in for Tigerboy?

tigerboy

i picked him because i thought he'll do well as you do with most midpricers. but his poor early start has and will put me behind the eight ball if i don't rectify it quickly. actually meataxe the top team wrote a comment in too serious about a similiar situation last year where he kept tippett for too long.. tippett did come good after a while but he lost so much points he was never in contention due to been inactive that first 6 rds.

also i picked everitt and yarran knowing its a risk and  it might not work out. but what helped me make the decision was the option of downgrading when or if it didnt work. thats the one good thing about midpricers vs gnr where if u pick  he wrong rookie u pretty much side trading but midpricer (2) u could downgrade to a rookie and upgrade one to premium.

its like stocks - u gotta know when u need to sell and i guess thats the issue. even if yarran did score 80 from now.. tapscott scores 70 .. its still a win

i think some of the advise given too hold trades is most times correct but , holding on to trades just for the sake of holding on.. when u might be losing ground is been stubborn and if u picked the mid pricers for flexibility then go for it.

charliesheen

hang on to yarran, he will make a profit and you will be able to upgrade him, imo.

diddley

go for it. bring in tapscott. dawes is safer, but tapscott allows you way more money in the bank. and chances are, you already have krak in the forwards.

tigerboy

I stayed with yarran. The heated debate made me hang on did the everitt to heppell trade. Tapscott didn't suit my structure. Thanks for these forums I've saved a trade. And might even have a ok unique with yarran if enough sold him out

Alex7089

Yeah Yarran 111 V Pies so good signs.
