By trading you are losing

If you trade in a Libba/Curnow this week you are already accepting defeat. You will not win the car. People who have them both to begin with are suddenly 1-2 trades up.

My bench is Savage, Swallow, Harris, Bewick, Heppel. If I trade Savage-Curnow I'm one trade down on everyone else who already has him. however suddenly if Curnow has a shocker and gets dropped after the pies game while Savage knock up a 90 I'm a trade up ;).

One player in round 2 wont shape your season. Touch wood, riewoldt could break his leg and then those that didn't have him would suddenly be the 'winners' of the car.

+1

me

not necessarily imo

yes other people may have them, but they may also lack good pickups that you have or have under performing/injured premiums - so they may be forced to make early trades as well

i don't agree, for me personally i feel im happy with the rest of my team, those people with libba and cunrow might not have some of the players im happy with e.g tapscott and adcock. If i have cunrow libba, tapscott and adcock and they all fire i will be ahead of people who just have libba and cunrow. For me the only problems in my team are foley and atley so i will only be "giving up" if people already have perfect teams".

in your case if the rest of your team is really good and savage has a shocker and cunrow guns it up than you will fall behind.

i see the theory of what you are saying and in general agree. We are two games in and there is something to always be said for and against this sideways type trade. Curnow could also (touch wood not) break a leg next week?
If you picked someone for a reason, then it proably still stands as to why you kept them over others.
Trades are gold to make up for issues, not simply to try and bet with the crowd and make an extra $50k on the player trade market

If Curnow had scored 120 against pies and cats id be all over him. But his two scores have been against Richmond and GC (may as well not even inlcude that score). Far too risky, players are waiting to jump on his spot if he doenst perform.

Libba on the other hand, people are getitng way too excited. One good game against Brisbane and he is DT gold? He is 18, you seriously think he is going to average 85+?

So you're against bringing in Libba or Curnow, fair enough, but trading for one of them is not necessarily going to make or break your year.

I really like it, I dont have either of them but Ward was talked up over preseason and has delivered really well. GC this week is a bonus.

Why him over Cunrow/Libba?
-Better job secuirty than Curnow, and I dont think Curnow can back up those scores agaisnt Tigers/GC
-Higher scoring potential and job security than Libba and mature age

Why not?
-Main reason is you save 130k

Go Ward, the 130k will only be sitting around if you don't.

He may do long enough to then trade him out to a premium. Cant see why he cant keep his scoring up for a few more weeks. Next 7 weeks... Gold Coast, BYE, Frem, Coll, Syd, Rich & WCE. Out of that Coll and maybe Syd r the only 2 teams that might restrict him from touching the pill.

Fair enough, id say he will be a sub two of those weeks however. He has only impressed in one round though, so very risky. One round isnt much to go on.

M taking libba and my 130k will be instantly used.

that is exactly my thinking im not going to be using the money as the rest of my team besides atley im really happy with. IM still thinking atley to cunrow because atley just doesnt look afl ready and i will need atley to play round 4 and i would be more comfortable having cunrow for that game.

Yeah, don't like the sideways trade on rookies. Gotta be downgrading to make cash on both the trade and the price rise or upgrading to a gun to make a trade worth it. Followed that strategy each year and I haven't missed a GF in any of my leagues. I ain't got Curnow or Libba and I'm stickin' with Atley and Bewick.
