i think swallow did really well... not sure if anyone watched the game but he was playing vs judd all good... blood good effort imo, especially since they got smashed!

i agree. JUDD probably one of the best in the game and Swallow is on him, they got smashed by 100+ pts and he still managed 57odd...

im happy with all my GC players, in a team that got thrashed by 100+ points they stil scored well. (Harris, smith, stanley, matera, swallow dixon, toy, coad etc etc) they are cash cows, not people who are playing on your field. they are there to make money, not score you points. (exceptions maybe harris...)

You guys aren't looking a the big picture though.  Yes, a short 60k gain, sure.  But even if they ave the same, curnow/libba would earn an EXTRA 60k than swallow due to his cheaper price.  plus, if they both ave more than swallow, my bet is they'd have earnt better JS and more money whilst doing so.

The fact that we get 24 trades instead of 20 like previous years - even though our players only player 22 rounds still.

Well I am in this position too, and I personally dont think that trade is a bad one. I made the stupid decision of having everitt in my side, so a swallow to curnow will allow me to go everitt to grimes. Either way for me swallow or curnow will be on the bench and only there to earn money. Given tapscott looks like he is going to be reasonably solid, I have moved him onto the field and put another premium in the middle, so thats why swallow is now benched. Anyway I digress...Swallow, sure he might be a gun, but he aint going to be this year, at best he will average 80. Curnow IMO will average 80 and his JS is probably as good as swallows anyway after that call from mckenna saying he will be happy if he plays only 12 games. So you are set to make more money on curnow and he will go up sooner also, I dont think its a boat you want to miss. Worse comes to worse you can always trade back to swallow after a couple of rounds and probably make a profit when you trade back as curnow will be above 160K.

Lots of people saying hang on hang on, its only first game.. I dont think anyone expected to see gold coast that shower, they were terrible, and I honestly cannot see them winning a single game. They got beaten by 119 points on home turf against carlton, who are likely not a top four side.. maybe it was nerves, but it looked a lot more like inexperience, even ablett looked lost in the first quarter, yes he was underdone, but he realised that he will have to actually go and get his own ball from now on (I love ablett by the way). So in summary personally I cant see Swallows scores improving that much. I hope i'm wrong, but I think come thursday swallow to curnow (maybe libba) is happening. Libba dominated.

i like the trade i think its worth it, not so much the swallow downgrade but everitt to grimes is a huge upgrade. Grimes looks like he will be a top 5 backman this year so you will want him in your side at some stage.

Im glad someone shares the vision.  If I went through with it, it's a matter of choosing Libba or Curnow.  I know there are threads about this question.. BUT, no one really gives and explanation.  I know WB have big wraps on libba, but after watching both carlton games this season, Curnow looked reallly impressive - hardly like a rookie at all!  hmm.

Im also thinking about pulling swallow out because a) i dont want to miss the libba/curnow train and b) hes going to be a bench player for me this yr so why not grab a bit of cash that i can use to upgrade some poor preseason decisions before the price changes. I dont think its blasphemy to get rid of him, 160 was expensive in the first place and hes going to have to pull some pretty big games to catch libba/curnow in the cash cow race. the way i see it theyve nailed 2 out of 8 games, hes failed in 1, so hes got a bit of catching up to do before you can cash him in anyway

does anyone really think these rooks will play all year? they are too young and not physically capable. if they last 7-8 games before being dropped [RESTED] or subbed i'd be very surprised. i'm tending to agree, make the cash
