I hate the sub rule (and Mark Harvey, and Brad Scott, and Richmond)

Dear AFL:

The sub rule sucks.  Not just for DT, but also for the game.  Get rid of it.

Dear Brad Scott:  Liam Anthony was your best player when he came on.  This had better be the only time all season he's a sub.  He did more in one quarter than guys like Sam Wright and Jack Ziebell did all game FFS.

Dear Mark Harvey:  It's obvious you hate Rhys Palmer and I'm going to have to trade him out because of you even though he's obviously a better player than his price.  Bonus points for subbing off LOWER, you drongo.  Argh.

Dear Vossy:  I really wish at this point I had backed my own judgment on Rohan Bewick and kept him despite my opinion of your coaching.  Couldn't you have been a better coach so I could have trusted you to give the bloke a fair run?

Dear Hawthorn:  Is Matt Suckling just the latest in a long line of Hawk rookies to have one breakout game and then go down the tubes, or will he keep getting games?

Dear Richmond:  You have a late bye and so are one of the best placed teams for cash cows.  Why are most of your cash cow players SUCKING SO MUCH?  I hate you.

Out:  Mitch Morton (before he loses way too much cash), Rhys Palmer (sob, if not for these subbing antics he'd definitely be a good buy)
Have to hold and hope:  David Astbury (can't drop TOO much in value), Nathan Foley (will come good), Liam Anthony (Im sure that will be a one-off)
In: I'm tempted to cash up by taking Tapscott and Curnow, and using some of the money to upgrade Astbury the next week

You forgot Mick Malthouse with Krakouer. Lol. Personally a bad thing for DT but not so bad in the real stuff.

for the game, the sub rule is good, dt wise, it's really hurting.

it wouldn't be too bad, if they would announce the sub when the teams are named

Grab a Kleenex and harden up princess. Everyone is in the same position! if anything, this year shows the people that are actually good..and the wingers that are shower.
:)

good luck!

Mark Harvey doesn't hate Rhys Palmer
1st game- Palmer got injured(concussion i am pretty sure) so was subbed off.
2nd game- Palmer was underdone from last weeks injury and Harvey didnt want to risk him playing a whole game.

It's bad for players who get subbed off in your team but also has positives IMO..

i.e. Swanny will probably average 5-15 PPG more because of increased TOG along with a lot of premiums IMO but mostly with Swandawg.

Therefore overall not absolutely killing our averages and sure it might hurt you one week with a sub but then hurt your opponent next week, all balances out.

lol, you're joking right? with the byes yeah, that's the case, but with the subs, it's like the coaches are drawing them out of a hat for the most part. and sure, you might get hit one week and not the next, or then again, you might cop 4 one week, and not have a single opponent get even one after that.

the sub rule hasn't really hit me too badly (had krak + lower fielded this week, but no biggie), and clearly it hasn't really hit you. But if you owned jack riewoldt this week, you'd be pretty pissed off as well that he got concussed and then subbed.

i happen to disagree with the sub rule seperating the good players from the bad, i think it actually does the reverse. For people who had guys like anthony this week that wasn't a dumb move to get him.  the bye rule separates the good players from the bad, but the sub rule makes it about luck.

i have been hit pretty hard by the sub rule myslef with krak, foley, anthony, lower all getting hit by the rule.  If you are lucky enough to avoid the sub rule than you have a huge help up. I really feel sorry for plamer owners as without the sub rule picking him would have been fantastic, but as it stands its a mistake

Look the sub rule is bad, we all know that... the players, medical staff and majority of coaches are not happy with it. And HOPEFULLY something will change. I like Jobe watson's style and hopefully the AFL wakes up to themselves. I was a strong believer in sheedy that years ago wanted an extended bench. BUUUUUUUT whether we like it or not we have to deal with it.. comprehende?

Honestly if you were careful and didn't gamble with players on the cuss (or at risk) you wouldn't be affected.  Jack was unfortunate and that will happen to a bevy of other players this year. Get on with it guys! Best of luck

not sure you should be telling people what we know/think (we can decide that for ourselfs thank you very much)....think you'll find lots of people have nothing against the sub rule....yes for DT it's not ideal but as much as some people like to think otherwise, dreamteam is just a spin-off for a bit of fun of what the afl is really about....dont think you'll find the AFL changing the rules to accommodate any sort of fantasy footy comps....

For what it's worth I personally think the sub rule will highlight the trade happy dt coaches more than anything. The coaches that are annoyed that Palmer has been caught up with the sub rule for the first 2 weeks and not looking at the bigger picture, and that is that you bought him fir a reason and I'm guessing that it was his value. He obvious won't be a subnet nor e subbed each week due to conditioning. I think anything that can separate one coach from the other in a very much sheep like competition that we call fantasy footy is a good thing.
