What the ruck do I do?

Right. It's become apparent that I've made a couple of mistakes with my pre-season selections, and I'm considering rectifying them.

Jolly - For some reason, I opted for Jolly over Ryder. Maybe to spend the extra cash elsewhere. Who knows? But he's been horrible. Not even 50 against the Roos? I didn't see the game, but I know he played the whole thing.
JPK - One of my attempts at picking a mid pricer and it doesn't seem to be paying off. Will it?? Not if yesterday was anything to go by.
Hibberd - I kept him purely for the DPP link and the fact Hirdy said he'd be playing in Round 2. I'm not sure there's any room for him at the moment (barring injury of course).

So I have a few lines of thinking here. Please give me your thoughts, or other suggestions.

1. Trade Jolly for McEvoy. McEvoy looks good. Not 100% sure on his JS though?? This would leave me with around $100k, allowing me to upgrade JPK to someone who sucks less (Goodes, ROK, Higgins)
2. Downgrade JPK to a Libba/Curnow, then switch Jolly for Sandilands. I avoided squeeze Sandi into my team because everyone has him and I wanted to be a bit different. May have been a dumb idea? :P
3. Downgrade JPK to Libba, then swap Hibberd to Curnow. Will lose my DPP link, but it'll give me 2 rookies on a big bubble with more scoring potential than my current mid fielder. In the meanwhile, I can sub Jolly for Smith as doesn't seem to have a problem scoring.
4. Sit tight and shut up.

I'm just using these trades to fix mistakes and put me in a better position. I like to think I'm being smart about it :P

Did you also not choose Swan and Goddard because everyone else has them too?

On a personal note I'm stuck between option four and trying to get a gun youngster before his price rises.

Before this round I was eyeing off wasting a trade and losing Chris Yarran before round three. He has now scored 100 but only against GC so  I'm leaning towards maybe sit tight with option four.

As for your list.

There are a couple of players who are must haves IMO

There is no other ruckman better than Sandilands. With Dean Cox slowing up last year then no other ruck that has consistently proven themselves.

After this pre season I have begun to think Cox just had one bad year and will be back. If anything my ruck is too strong but Petrie and Z.Smith came really cheap.

As for JPK. He has averaged 70's Dreamteam and 80's Super coach for the last two years. The prospectus believe his numbers will boom but last year he played just about every game and finished third on the best & fairest.

Generally not good to jump too soon otherwise you may regret it but I would have like Callan Ward for that price. Mind you I chose Palmer over Ward start of the season for similar results that your getting with Kennedy.

Blueboys

You should have had either Cox, Ryder or Sandi from the start.... :P

If you're going to trade go with option 2.

At least Palmer had an excuse this weekend :P

I have Cox/Jolly at the moment. I'm just debating whether or not Jolly will start to fire.
Option 2 is sounding the best though. Take my medicine, get Sandi in and just leave the rucks be.

That being said, both Jolly and JPK might have blinders next week. Chances are remote, but then I'll be saving trades.

Option 1 IMO.

McEvoy job security is solid. He will make you cash and Sandilands work load is pretty big again this season. He will have a drop off at some point and seems to be carrying an ankle problem. I wouldn't be getting on him just yet. McEvoy will make you 100k if he gets to an 85 avg and the Saints are going to have to blood some youth, especially in the tall department. Gardner should hang the boots up already.

Then go JPK to Mitchell or someone around that mark. Jolly has always been a very avg DT ruckman.

I'd be very cautious selection Sandilands right now. Alot of money to pay for the big guy when the cheaper ruckman all have very good output because of the sub rule.

Interesting points Bluke! I guess you kind of just assume Sandi is going to be gold all season.

I'm thinking option 1, but maybe JPK to Libatore this week. That'll free me up some cash for when I start upgrading. It feels dumb saying that, because these are the things I'd wish I thought of before round 1 :P But yeah, I'm liking the McEvoy option.
