I can not stress enough that there is no such thing as a dud rookie from rounds 1-3.

Ok I will attempt to say this as best as I can.

1. All rookies are high risk.
2. Check out who they just played; ie Cats vs Freo. May have just been a hard round while they are finding thier confidence!
3. Wait until at least round three when your rookie has an average and a meat market(aka cash cow).
4. Johnson did not do well against cats..ie; who does? lol.
5. Rookies in Collingwood are pretty much a no go..why? Cus MM chooses only the best, having said that Krakouer will be a keeper until Maxy gets back. 48 points in one 1/4 as a sub..nice pickings. MM will not over look this and may just keep him anyway with Maxy.
6. Remember the first 4-6 bye rounds - a rookie at senior level may be bashing out high numbers but look out who he is playing for before you trade. http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,30808.0.html .....,he might have a bye and then you'll have to bench him anyway.

Bottom line don't trade before round 3 is played out.

Good post.  Sideways trades to another rookie early are never a good idea.  If one of your rooks starts bad, and keeps getting named, he can only get better right?  The only reason perhaps to trade out is if he's not named for the third game.  The purpose of your rookies are to make you money so at least give them a chance to.

Or if you're silly enough (like me) to keep Hibbered just because Hirdy said he'll play in round 2 :P

LF

see i keeping hibberd doesn`t worry me too much as i`ve got enough mpp in fowards and backs to cover.

yorgis

sideways trades are for LTI like lenny

justi

maybe a few people should read this thread before they trade

i buy into this theory.. but only slightly given the landscape has changed this yr with byes.

4 extra trades means, IMO, if you missed a cash cow you can afford to swap. if the rest of your team is solid then i dont see it being a waste.

of course if you have problems all over the ground then its a different story...
