whats with all the trade talk we are 2 rounds into the season people. don't go chasing players just because a certain rookie is averaging a tiny bit more than another or your premium player has had an ave week. Have some faith people. I have Foley and as much as the guy is pissing me off im not going to get rid of him because I have faith he will get his shower together. I also missed out on Curnow, Libba and Tapscott and im not going to trade rookie for rookie just because Curnow may make me an extra 50k and Libba, Tapscott the same. A trade is worth more than 50k people if your rookies are playing have faith in them they may not be as good as another rookie but is it really worth wasting a trade?

You're not wasting trades if you're putting your team in a significantly better position than it was previously. I do agree with the main point of your post - don't panic, be smart about your trading!

I agree with your core argument (save trades). But certain rookies are worth bringing in for the money making potential. IE. Podsiadly and Barlow last year. Believe it or not, some people didnt start with Barlow and brought him in early. Same with the JPod. Both moves would have netted their teams 300k each. Now I'm not suggesting that either Curnow or Libba will reach those prices, but they are sure to net at least 120 - 150k and that is a hefty profit.

I'm so glad that I only started with one mid price player (knights) bc they are so often the killers!

Yer, i learnt my lesson this year no awkward price mids eg. Foley, when a rookie can avg the same as him.

and to think for 3 hours before lockout i was trying and find a better option than him.

Yea they will make that on their original starting price but but im talking about people trading rookies that are playing now to them that rookie may make it to say 280k and then the rookie you trade him for may make it to say 330k thats what I mean by basicly your trading to make 50k. Yea if one of your rookies isn't playing at all go for it because that would be trading to make the 150k+ thats what most people did last year relton to pods. Im just trying to help people out and make them realise be happy that your rookies are playing they may not be as good as another rookie but is trading to get that rookie really worth the 50k extra they will give you?

Yep agree. I wouldn't trade a playing rook for either Curnow or Libba.

Atley may have a blinder this week. Remember he played away in the west, a long trip and probably his first and then Collingwood. If he is named this week I'd hold him.

I'm trading hibberd though if he isnt named this week.

Mish

curnow and a bunch of the other rookies out there are no ipod or barlow. their not mature aged and dont have much experience where ipod and barlow did. ipod has been top scorer in VFL for a while, while barlow has been very good in the low league for a long time.

Atley will be pretty lucky to get a game this week I reckon ;)

C'mon Mish, Curnow is a mature aged player from the Box Hill Hawks. He was cut by the Crows at a younger age. He won Box Hill's B&F after only playing the first 12-13 games and broke his leg. This guy can play footy and anyone that saw him play VFL would have picked him to start with!

Are you suggesting Curnow is the next Barlow?

Bluke

I dont think he has the potential to score as highly as barlow.

Remember that the Freo midfield was in tatters with Barlow arrived. Palmer was recovering from a Knee and Mundy hadn't stepped up yet. Compare that with the Carlton midfield which is strong.

However, I think there is a good chance Curnow can avg 80+ this season, which would make a bloody good pick up. And yes Mish, Curnow is mature age.

Liba could be the next 'Palmer' as well. Palmer avg 89 in his debut season, no reason why a rookie couldnt do that again. Yes comparing Freo from 2008 and WB of today is like comparing apples and oranges but Liba looked BLOODY GOOD yesterday. If he keeps playing like that Eade will be forced to play him. Imagine the lynching he would get from Dogs fans if he droped him while hes in this form, especially considering the father link.
