The reason for Broughton's low score on the weekend was quite simple to work out if you watched the game.

He was basically playing a tagging role on Steve Johnson, so instead of playing his usual role he was playing a more defensive role = less DT points

This is what we need to look out for - if he continutes to be used in this way it's worth getting someone else, if he goes back to his old ways then there should be no worries.

Sometimes actually watching the games helps a lot with DT selections.
yeah, it looked like Suban took on Broughton's role from last year so you might want to monitor ...

If you have checked the past you would have surely know Broughts would score slightly less this weekend just gone.  Since he has played he has always gone to Stevie J.  Stevie won the battle in the 1st half - which kept Broughts score down but he got on top during the second half and started to score well himself.

Sandi thought Broughton could use a hand and cleaned up Stevie lol

That happened right in front of me - I was sitting on the 50m line where that happened.  Big hit but to Stevie's credit he got straight back up.

The whole crowd loved that one

So someone needs to get on to Harvey then and tell him to free Broughton up   :D

Sometimes defenders actually defend a player instead of picking up cheap marks and kicks on the wing. He is in my team and I have faith

Thought there needed to be a topic about him here.
Looked like a good pick at the start of the year but has really disappointed so far with scores of 79 and 61.
If he's going to continue to score like this, he doesn't look like much of a keeper. With his price and a B/E of 135, it may be worth trading him.
I know it's "sideways", but would him to Enright (10k more but scoring much higher against good teams) be a good move? Surely now would be the time to do it with the price gap surely to rocket over the next few weeks.

Scores of 79 and 61 are very decent for a cash cow at half back flank, if he is named this week and pulls anything close to those two scores again hold on to him.

I myself am dissapointed that I did not choose him in my line up.  Debut round 3 2009. Averaging 24 possies after his return from an injury that side lined him. Also Freo extended his contract so he must be at least worthy of TOG.

Give the boy a chance.   ;)

You realize he isn't a cash cow. People forked out a reasonable amount of Danny greens for broughton.

firstly, just relax on the tagger/negating role. week 1 he definitely wasnt playing this role, he had a decent game IMO.
secondly, if your assigned to stevie j there is no way you leave him to try and take marks and run the ball out of the backline, he is far too damaging.
thirdly, we ALL picked broughton as a keeper, not a cash cow or a mid-pricer. if you want to burn a trade then youll be doing just that, burning a trade.
lastly, players averages. broughton averaged 89 last year, meaning for every 60 he got, he got a 100. his 100's will come sooner or later because he wont average 60 this year. same with pendles, he wont average 140 this year, so hes 80s will be coming soon aswell.

Yes I understand he is not a rookie and cost a mid size pocket, but not enough to say he cost a lot. And yes at this stage of his career he is cash cow. You are assuming that a player needs to be a first year rookie to be a cash cow.  This is not the case here. He is finding his feet atthe moment and against Geelong last week you expect him to perform when team morale is down. Freo will bounce back as will Broughton.

Nails

How is Broughton a cash cow? He's in the top 15 most expensive backs and would need to make Goddard 2010 scores to make ~100k which is what you'd sorta want out of your cash cow...

And if he were to make those scores you'd never trade him out.

Even if he maintained this price you wouldn't trade him because that's a KEEPER score... average of 89 for a defensive player = very good in DT...

Not sure how he could possibly be a cash cow.

Yeah it was awesome.  I like and have both players in my DT so was concerned about an injury.  Johnno a tough nut.

Ziplock

... really? a cash cow? He costs $370 000, since when does anyone choose a cashcow priced at that... I wouldn't choose someone that I intend on trading out if they cost much over 300 000, players like cotchin + palmer would be my limit for 'cash cow' price. You've actually got to be high if you reckon that with broughtons price tag, he can be classed as a cash cow.

A cash cow is a player designed to make you cash and thus make trading up to premiums easier.

boo-yaa

definatly not a cash cow.

i'll be holding onto to him.

an average is done over the whole season meaning a big game is just around the corner.

every player has ups and downs, you just have to ride the averages.
