Would a top 8 finish mean much for the bombers?

Firstly it would get our hopes up alot more and expectations, and if we just made finals then lost the elimination match straight away it doesn't really much mean at all. In some ways it would be better if we finished 9th to go under the radar a bit more and then have a chance at top four in 2012.

Top 8 almost certain, hoping for a top 6 finish. Next year I think top 4, and maybe a premiership. My bulldog mate thinks we'll win the flag next year, hopefully he's right.

I'd be happy just challenging for the 8th spot. Hird has alot to learn so can't heap too much pressure on him too early. Look what happened to Voss!!!

I very much doubt that we'll make the Top 8 this year. There is a long season ahead. I'd be happy with a top 10 finish this season, top 8 next year.

just an improvement on last year is what i am looking for, 10th for me, hate coming 9th, but someone has to.

Jukes is a perfect example of getting to far ahead of themselves.

top 8 next year surely though if things go good for us, but if we make the 8 this year Hird will feel the pressure next year.

Not very realistic ;)

Anything not bottom 4 is an improvement, then push for 8 next season. The drafting the last couple of years and the next couple of years will determine if we can get to top 4 and perhaps become contenders. But that is definitely a 3+ seasons away.

I don't think top four next year is out of the question. Although premiership will be a fair while away.

Maca24

Top 8 this year hopefully.
Top 6 hopefully next year.
Top 4 is unrealistic in the next 2 years. maybe in 3 or 4.

Cruiseon

Geez last week it was a new dawn of success, back to back flags. Now its maybe top 8, fickle bunch these Bombers.

Alex7089

This thread, it was started before that game :P

I am not sure we will make the 8 but making moves forward :)

Cruiseon

Yeah Alex I know but i'm talking in general. Essendon will make the 8, no doubt but even Knights managed that.

Alex7089

Knights managed it, yes. But we only had 10 wins and then we got smashed first week.

I am not sure we are going to make top 8. It is a step up from where we were last year and we can't be sure we'll be able to replicate our form against the Dogs in other games.

Boomz

I'm just happy to see us playing a better brand of footy.

Finals experience is always a good thing imo so I think it will be a good thing if we make the 8...

We'll definitely make the eight. Were the only team who has really challenged Collingwood now. The final margin of the game of course does not tell the true story.

Jukes

After playing 4 of last years top 5, and another finallist, for a split record 2-1-2, is really good. And the umpires cost us the Sydney match and we might have won vs Collingwood had the umps been decent.

Coming up we shower teams like Richmond, Brisbane, Gold Coast, West Coast, all the crappy coast teams. 4 wins there, then we have a bye and Melbourne, so we should take our next 5 wins and go 7-1-2.
