I agree with all of your analysis, reconfig, except for your first point. Why are you so anti-Jack Riewoldt? And why did you judge his scoring potential this year based on one game, just like the nuffie early traders you are criticising? Sure, his DT scoring is mostly dependent on his goal kicking, but there is absolutely no reason why he can't match or beat last year's goal output and 83.6 DT average this year. Especially since Richmond have a stronger midfield this year, and Jack has been the obvious forward target at Richmond for long enough that he can't possibly receive more attention from opposition defenders than he already does. O'Keefe, on the other hand, is quite old and showed last year that with the wrong role or a hard tag he can be a very poor DT scorer (think every game from Round 17 onwards). O'Keefe could score very well this year, but because of his role-dependent scoring he is the riskier pick of the two.

Brown to J. Riewoldt seems like the best trade to me (though I actually started with Riewoldt and not Brown), since pretty much everyone already has other forwards with byes in Rounds 4, 5 and 6.

Great post reconfig!! Love reading posts like that. I am one of those ppl that loves wasting trades early on but last year(and obviously this year) I haven't and what a difference it made.

MissPies I don't think ppl traded out Dawes, but traded him in. I think he will have a great year... Trying to not tempt myself into having so many Coll players.

Once again great post though!!

Ha ha yup I noticed I read it wrong but couldn't be farked fixing it lol.

I put JJF = Jumping Jack Flash(actually that could possibly go in my jargon thread) and everyone said I was nuts, just as they have again this year on my choices. Don't care though. I also read tabloids being a girly girl and if a player has a new girlfrend err getting laid often, I also take this into consideration.

When a mans balls are closer to home he is one happy camper. (SHHHH I never said that, I plead the 5th)

PS. Coll players are good and we have our two byes this year just like everyone else and our byes are seperate as in not in conjunction with the 5 three teams per round byes.

Trade! Trade! Trade! Trade on a Monday, even a Sunday night, then you get the player you trade for before everyone else, and that player will listen to your advice first before he listens to any other dreamteamers advice.    ;)

lol those trade figures are in the 1000s now.

Did a few sums and ~3500 people traded out Lecras which isnt a big deal except that its only wed night, but from that I was able to calculate that around ~1200 people had traded out Joel Selwood. That to me is a SHOCKING figure, so shocking that I laughed my ass off!

People trading before teams come out is farkin idiodic(excuse the term) What if you trade someone in that gets injured during training?

Food for thought.

I will admit, i was a little tired when i wrote the post, and perhaps saying the trade is terrible is a little harsh (Ok, it was QUITE harsh). I think he may average close to 90 ish (5points more than last year), but i think there are a lot of lpayers with a higher scoring potential then him.  How many times will J Riewoldt score magical numbers like 120-130. If he can only score 106 after 6 goals then he has to change his gamestyle to find more ball, and given that he is in a team that only looks to pass to him, he really needs to stay close to home to kick goals, and cant find much of his own ball outside the 50. If you compare him to his cousin, he is in a team where much of the midfield can score goals, as well as there are other targets in the forward line. This allows Nick Riewoldt more freedom to push up the ground a bit further, and this seems to be where he gets his extra points.

You are definately right in saying it's one game. Many things could happen during the season, such as someone like vickery stepping up to be another good target up forward, and perhaps the midfield having more scoreboard impact. Maybe jack will be able to find more ball,  and not just rely on his goal scoring ability for his dt score. But personally I'd rather use an extra 50k to go to a proven player such as riewoldt, buddy etc.

So glad I didn't pick him.

DG

great review, trading early is ridiculous. reckon reiwoldt will be alright this year though, havent got him but one to watch. not sold on dawes, but based on last week could be awesome. both big risks to be trading in after round 1 though

Spite

Haha and riewoldt gets a big fat zero!

Holz

im sure alot of people will be trading in reiwoldt round 5 now

Most people learn from their mistakes.
I learnt from my mistake this week Valk. I gave Kade Simpson a chance of getting a huge score this week because they were playing Gold Coast, and made him captain in lieu of Swanny. How do you think I went?
