At what point is the chance of winning the 50k over? i.e. if ya not in the top 5k after round 5, the overall win is lost..  this week with selwood has started me off on the back foot ranked around 20k. i certainly aint gunna give up and theres always the weekly prize, but was just wondering how far back can u be and at what round,,

if your not in the top 5000, at the end of round 1 i think your going to have to do something ridicolous to get back. To win the whole thing from 20k your going to have a perfect season. I would say you need to be top 1000 by round 6 to still be in it (round 4-6 will separate the good from the bad players).

i couldnt really name a round of which to know whether you are still in contention or not, but look at the figures. i am ranked 608, and i am 200 points away from number 1. that 200 points is hard to catch up on. do that 5 times in a row, it becomes 1000 points to catch up on, making it almost impossible, even with most of the season to go.

you guys are so full of S$^T.........the team that top scored this week in supercoach had 2600, and they will probably only score 2100 or less next week...Its like some weeks a team that averages 1750 manages to put up 2750.....if you scored 2000+ you are still in the running..It is a long, long season, and 600 points to catch up over 23 more weeks is childs play....i scored 2268 and am ranked 12000th.....the winner will end up averaging 2300

well on the leader he does have gumbleton..so im not thinking thats a genius we will be chasing  lol,, but anyhow, if someone knows what the winner last year actully averaged?(even though it will be different with the byes and all) that may be a better way at looking at it,,

how many people do you here about, clawing up from the 20,000 mark to win it? none. thats right. they are generally in it from the start. sure, no.1 ranked prob wont get 2600 next week, but he is isnt going to get 1700 either. in fact, i doubt he will stoop to 2200 next week.

Nyn

I dont see him getting anywhere near 2600 next week, i think he will be 2100 at best... time will tell tho.

my point is that it is only week 1, and people who are only 500-600 points behind are being told that they may as well give up on overall. I think that is the biggest load i have ever heard. Is it easy to be trailing, No... but in no way is your chance gone...

Agreed...with subs , and the byes this year it will definately make things much more unpredictable. The coach that scored 2600 got a few lucky scores from rookies which will definately not happen for him every week...but will happen to others. When Cox, Goddard, Swan and 211 have byes it will be interesting to see how that affects everyone. I expect coaches trying to win the comp to run out of trades very quickly from trying to cover their superstars. With the added non-awesomeness of star players being rested just before finals...this year all you have to do is average around the 2300 to be within striking range for the last 5 rounds...then bust them double trades every week for the run home.....no money on the pine.

The important thing to remember from this round completed is that almost everyone would have had all their premiums playing.

I wouldn't think there would be too many with GAJ or Rischa, so when the byes start rolling round, the score IMO will actually drop, so it will be interesting to see what happens. There will be a lot of deviation amongst scoring this year.

My aim is consistency. If you can maintain that then you'll go along way to getting the overall.

Round 2 and 3 should be pretty close. Not too many premium mids in Adelaide or NMelb (IMO) who have the next two byes.
Round 4 avg is going to be very interesting

When you're not first at the end of the season :)

Spite

Are some people here serious? No chance after a 20k start? Ha!
Let's look at two seasons ago shall we....

Round 1, was ranked 29k. Round 2, was ranked 9k. Round 3, was ranked 4k. Round 4, ranked 650th. Round 5, ranked 156th.... Round 7 ranked 111.

Yes, I peaked a little too early but I wasn't so much behind the leader and had gained on him for like 6 rounds in a row. I stayed high for a while before ending badly, but it can only take 5-6 solid weeks to jump in ranking.
