Captain Loophole?

so let me get this straight...

i set gibbs as my vice captain, and i want to take his score.

can i now in the forwards put drew petrie on the ground and make him captain, then just put darling on the bench as an emergency to cover petrie?

or will by doing this make darling captain?

Named Gibbs as VC happy with hi 138 Interchanged Stanley GC and Otten Made Stanley Cpatain and Otten Emergency.  Gibbs scored me 276 and Otten as emergency for Stanley scored me 67.
