I'm guessing a few people are interested in what Meow Meow's team would look like ... well i was bored so i decided to compile a list of players he's made recommendations for. Below is a list of quotes regarding each player :

Walters?

This guy looked really good in the finals last year, and has had a good preseason. Anyone considering him as an alternative to Knights, Vez, Gamble etc?

Fyfe Kennedy or Anthony

Martin plays a style of game that is unstoppable. He'll get better due to having had another preseason under his belt. The difference between him and Selwood is that Martin is Richmond's number 1 midfielder. Selwood wasn't.

I can't help it if people think it's cool to bash me for not having a sheep opinion. Just because i like Dustin Martin over Liam Anthony, these people think im the antichrist.

I think Martin is a lock? :P

6th and 7th backman (rookies)

I wouldn't be surprised if Brodie Smith and Bryce Retzlaff did well this year. But you've pretty much covered the lot.

Michael Johnson

Retzlaff could be the key to this. Keep your ears open.

Which Premium Mid?? Brett Peake or Andrew McQualter

Pendlebury & Sewell Vs Swan & Foley ?

Option A. Sewell has been tearing it up in the preseason, and he'll need to if he's going to keep his spot in the Hawks midfield. But i can't realistically see him getting dropped. He is a tackling machine so that equals big points. Hawthorn may be a lot like the ultra dominant Geelong teams of late, where they have had the whole midfield with 100+ averages. This guy averaged 111 a couple of years ago so its not beyond him. Foley won't reach those highs or anywhere near it. Pendlebury may match Swans average though, so nothing is lost there.

Sewell for Lock?  ;D

Warnock?

He will go well in the early rounds with not having to compete with Jacobs for time on ground this year. Kruezer won't be back for a while, so Warnock is the man.

SWAN & BOYD or PENDLEBURY & SELWOOD?

Selwood was the number one mid for ages last year when Bomber decided Ablett is a forward. His scores improved despite the tag. Hard ball winners like Selwood, Cross and Judd are unstoppable.

2011 Scoring Averages, Midfield Estimates!

Cross is a hard ball winner, tackling machine. A hardball get and a handball scores more than a handball received and a kick usually. Selwood. Pendlebury and Ablett are the same, and it's no coincidence that they are some of the highest scorers. Contested possessions are where the big scores are. Think Judd. Think Priddis. Think Andrew Swallow. Think Jobe.

Cross is a tick?  8) Or is it Cooney?  :-\

Cross v Boyd v Cooney

Cross had his best season SC-wise last year and might drop back a bit this year due to the emergence of Callan Ward. He'll still be good for a 105 average though.

Boyd doesn't have much improvement in him at all, but I can't see him dropping off.

Cooney is a bargain at that price. His price is a little reduced due to his score of 6 when he did his hammy effecting his average. He'll play forward in spurts this year, much like he did in his brownlow year, so he might bag a few goals in addition to his 25-30 touches each week. Might see some repeats of his 35 touches and 5 goals which he pulled off against Sydney. He has the highest upside so he gets my vote.

Can't really go wrong with any of them though.

Coondog for Brownlow number 2. Let's hope Swan actually cries this year. He was on the brink last year.

Or even Jobe ..........

I might take him anyway and just have faith in Libba (or whichever downgrade i select) to cover him in round 24. He could very well be in the top 5 mids for the year, and the unique part is appealing.

Murphy played 2010 with OP, which he is free of now. Top notch ball user. Get on him.

Judd is going to be an injury prone old man soon, with the distraction of his soon to be milf wife having a baby.

Gibbs is Gibbs. If there is some cheap possessions on offer then he'll be all over them.

Jeff Garlett is the man for around that price. People should pay attention.

Davis vs dangerfield

I'm not buying all the Dangerfield hype. Not last year, not this year.

Davis hasn't impressed me that much either. Sure, he has been getting a lot of it, but his disposal isn't as good as it should be. If he can work on that then he will be great.

If Fyfe is in their price range then i'd be looking at him. Absolute gun of a player who will only improve.

But Jeff Garlett is the man in the 300-350 range.

Swan & Danger or Montags & Missy Higgins

The one with Swan in it, because it's got Swan in it.

Pendlebury & Corey or Swan & Anthony

Swan and Anthony. Because it's got Swan in it.

The real risk takers are the ones who aren't starting with Goddard, Swan AND Sandilands.

Or whoever has Chappy. CRAZY.

I don't get the extreme love for Grimes, while bashing Drummond. They are as bad as each other and i am staying well away from Grimes.

As for risks - Bob Murphy, Higgins, Jeff Garlett, and Dustin Martin to defy the 2nd year rule, much like Jeff did last year. This kid is a STAR.

I'd go with Adcock. Not too many other backs have averaged 110 in a season like this guy has. The potential is still there.

2011 Countdown: Brett Deledio

Nah man. Newman will be just as good, perhaps even better than Deledio this year.

Starting Toy to save some cash?

If you want to save an easy 45K then get Newman instead of Deledio. Look at his stats for last year, and you'll notice that there is a major anomaly in one of his scores. He was in the top 7 backs in 2009 and should do so again in 2011. and it's not like the ball won't be in Richmonds backline much again this year.

Haha, hell no. I've got Sandilands, Cox, Fraser and Petrie as my rucks. If Sandilands gets a rest, and Fraser gets injured, then i'll still be able to have 2 rucks who will produce decent scores. Having a strong ruck bench is vital if you ask me.

Rookies...enough to do your head in

Darling is doing just fine. A lock for round 1. Matera is killing it. Richardson is a certaintly. There's for forward bench, no worries. Stress less buddy, everything will be okay.

I like the idea of both Watson and Duigan. At least you know one of them will be playing, so they are guaranteed to be your 7th defender.

Mid-Priced Midfielder!!

Power will be played across half forward this year, and with his efficient ball use he will be lethal. He'll only need 20 possessions to score 100-110. Hitting targets inside 50 = big scores.

2 mid price midfielders?

Ahh i think it's a better idea than 3 prem/3 rookies. The rookies wont score as much, so they'll be a fair bit behind when they get upgraded. If you can have 13-14 keepers in the whole team then it's a viable option.

Explain to me how it's stupid?

I've got 3 premiums/keepers + Martin, Ward, Krakouer + Mzungu, Harris, Hibberd in reserve.
Once Mzungu has made enough, i'll sell him for a rookie and upgrade Martin to a premium. I'll have enough money left over to upgrade Ward to a premium the next week. What's so bad about that? The advantage of doing this is that Martin and Ward will score a lot more in the weeks that i have them, than players like Conca/Gaff will. I can do an upgrade on Krak by selling Harris. My midfield will be complete having used 5 trades, and i don't even need one reserve to play/increase in value. The advantage of this is that Martin wont miss any games due to byes, and he will score a lot more than rookies will while i have him.

After some consideration ... it was too hard to afford all the above mentioned players ... so converting Fraser to Smith just made sense.

McKernan - Retzlaff for MMP cover?

Also keeping Mzungu cause if you read the Midfield upgrade Mzungu should be back by the time all the upgrades are done. And allows for MPP with Pavlich. And saves a trade, which will be important considering i believe this team is League win only ... cause it has too many multi-bye/finals players to overall. Actually prob has to many players out for Finals to be anygood period :P But this is all in good fun :D

Egg on my face? Why is that?  The above was just an exercise to pass some time ... and i needed to make it at least a little fun to read. Also one does not win Supercoach by selecting a gun Round 1 team ... there are 22 trades ahead that need to be made.

I have no problem with Meow or the players he recommends. If some people actually pay attention to what he writes and how he writes things ... you'll appreciate his style and humour.

I predict that most people will be taking the wrong injury prone Dog this year. Higgins Higgins Higgins.

Harbrow gone, Hargrave injured, Gilbee maybe on the decline. All signs point to Bob Murphy being the number 1 rebounding defender at the Dogs. He'll have a bigger input into matches this year, and with his ball use and ability to find space he is a bargain at his current price.

Screw the backline I say. They score the least of any position, and the only defenders worth picking are mids in disguise. Except H.Shaw who is too good to pass up at that price. I'm confident of ALL of them playing regular early games, but if I cop a 0 then so be it. I'm only going to assume that they would have scored 50 anyway, so it's not devastating.

OR you could look at it in a less frightening way:

If i really needed to, i could drop Bennell for a 110K mid and Get Otten into the backline. Or Cooney>Martin to get Otten and Swap Garlett to Higgins. Decisions Decisions.

Still, 14 players who are capable of 120+ scores is a decent start. That count doesn't include Garlett, who did it 3 times last year, and will do it at least 20 times this year.
