charliesheen

never again will i choose higgins.

meow meow

What if he is cheap next year? You know you'll want him. You'll miss out on his 22 game, 110 averaging season.

charliesheen

sensed this was coming...

Quote
WESTERN Bulldog Callan Ward may have to sacrifice $2 million to remain loyal to his club, his manager Paul Connors says.
Connors revealed the size of the carrots being thrown by Greater Western Sydney, conceding he could not yet guarantee star client Dale Thomas would re-sign at Collingwood.

Ward is out of contract and being pursued by GWS, with the Bulldogs unable to match its five-year deal.

Connors, one of the league's most influential agents, told Superfooty's Front & Square players such as clients Thomas, Ward and Brisbane's Daniel Rich were being offered once-in-a-career deals.

Asked if the difference was as much as $400,000 a season, Connors replied: "More. (Their offers) are outrageous.

Marstar

Took the risk and Traded :

Lower -> Enright

Harris -> Didak

Both trade outs had high BE's and Trade-ins should be at their lowest.

Now i REALLY need to win my 1st final as 5 cats on the pine will hurt.

meow meow

Good trades. Didak is a pretty good choice as M7/F8 for that price. Just Swanny to go now eh? Don't be tempted to bring someone else in next week to finish your mids, just hold off and wait for Swan, because when he is fit and firing again there is nobody who can match him. Hibberd and Mzungu should be able to cover the 2 pies you have in there currently, or you could move Chappy in and play Darling. Or Goddard and Poppy. Definitely wait for Swan.

Marstar

Yeah definitely waiting on Swan ... and can even wait a week or 2 after he returns to see if he comes back fit and ready to kill.

Hoping Sandi comes back post haste, as im using Petrie in my ruck, meaning i'll only have Lynch as an Emergency on the pine.

I think the best thing tactically for me now is to downgrade Matera to Callinan (or some other fwd/mid rookie) to get full M7/F8 cover out of Didak.

That will leave me with 11 Trades. Which i think is plenty.

meow meow

Massive score this week. 1988. Impressive, right? Cross for captain wasn't the greatest choice. Most of my players had an off week, so that means they will all bounce back this week. Perfect. Drummond will come in this week, and Heath is the only player missing. Lake doesn't count. I'm thinking Toy> Some cheap chump with MPP so i can use Hibberd in the backs, and then upgrade Helbig to Higgins. Yeah, why not? This team can't get any worse, and Higgins will make a decent M7/F8 combined with Mzungu, with Winmar and I.Smith being the other MPP's. cover galore.

Marstar

Yeah i just scraped a win vs the bottom of the ladder opponent with 2090 vs 2057. Terrible week for my so called Premiums lol.

I have Adcock and Selwood out + Pend/Shaw/Dids/Krak ... but no expected donuts, and plenty of Def cover.

I guess Selwood -> Boyd is the best possible sideways trade yes? Or do you think GAJ for the extra 50k is worth it?

My other choice for the week is cashing in Darling b4 he drops even more, or keeping Darling for F9 (after Didak F8).

If so then i can wait a bit longer for Callinan and trade out Matera, while keeping that trade up the sleeve. This seems like the wiser choice atm.

Hope Sandi is back soon, i could really use Petrie up front asap, and the WCE bye is only a couple rounds away :S

-------

As for your team Toy -> Dan Nicholson [MEL] or Taylor Hine [GCS] look like the cheapest playing choices.

I agree, Higgins has had his annual mid-season holiday so should be fine for the rest of the year.

meow meow

Drummond over Adcock is starting to look good. Adcock's score have been absolute rubbish since I almost bought him, and now he's injured just as Drummond is going to return. The rookies that I had to play scored better than Adcock did. And to think they nominated me to FF tool of the week over that...

Boyd looks just as good as Ablett so the price difference is only worth considering if you want to pay for an extra game out of them. Gazza has had his byes. Boyd is as durable as they come though, so he won't miss any other than the bye. Won't get injured or rested if he has a niggle, which GC might consider doing to protect their investment. Having said that, Ablett is an absolute gun, and can still score more than anyone.

I'd leave the forward line until you have to touch it. This year is ridiculous, and an extra trade up your sleeve might be the difference between a win or a loss when it matters.

charliesheen

can you see Boyd maintaining this type of SC form next year, or do you see it as a 1 year anomaly due to the circumstances.

I picked him at the start of the year, due to 1. his preseason form 2. changes to SC scoring with disposal efficiency

Though with Cross (back to old role if new coach), Cooney, Griffin (probably improving once again), I may be hesitant to pick him again, his going to be freaken expensive next year.

meow meow

Haha, traveling so poorly that you're already onto 2012?

Yeah Boyd is a possession machine, and wins a heap of contested ball, and that won't change next year.

I wouldn't be so sure that Eade is a dead duck though. The Dogs have the easiest run home out of any team in the league, and if they are good for anything they should only drop 2 games, and still make finals. That will be good enough for Eade to retain his job IMO.

A fit Cooney will actually help Boyd. He'll be able to fire off a handball to Cooney running past, instead of kicking it to nobody like he currently does. He is durable and pretty consistent. He's the captain, and will remain as the number 1 inside mid for next year for sure. Cross has been the one pushed out. Boyd is staying put.

charliesheen

pretty much lol.  just the one trade this week selwood > ablett, no donuts though.  actually doing alright these couple of weeks, dodged the mundy bullet.

My fail trades so far

Selwood > Pendlebury
Swallow > Selwood >
Selwood > Ablett
Selwood back in ???

Higgins > chapman > FAIL

DEFINITELY going

Pendlebury, M. Murphy next year in the mids, just can't decide the other 1-2.

Could be Selwood/Boyd/Swan/Watson etc...

Leaning towards selwood as the 3rd, the rest rookies.

meow meow

I don't think you should pick Selwood next year. You have ruined him this year, and I want him next year, so stay well away.

Swanny will prove in the second half of this year that he'll be your 3rd mid. You'll even get him cheaper than he is worth due to his crap games this year.

I might go with 4 prems again and have the Judd/Murphy duo like I do every year, and the Pendlebury/Swan duo. I'll need to go with my cheap backline again to afford this. Oh and I'm definitely getting Higgins.

charliesheen

Backline, I'm thinking along the lines of

Goddard, Deledio, S. Thompson, P. Davis, Lake??

will go cheap as well.

what has me perplexed the most is choosing the forward line next year~
