Rumour doing rounds that Rhys Palmer has told club he is off to GWS and that Harvs will play him regardless. Fremantle says its rubbish

I think the rumor mill about Rhys Palmer will be quite big all year - its a shame really.

hmmm, Palmer is probably a good pick. You'd expect him to play well this year....

This GWS tactic of going after the youngsters, while smart, seems a bit against the spirit of it all

Cicjose

If that happens i expect GC and GWS to win a flag before Fremantle do

We will still be fine without Palmer if he does go.

As Valk said Freo will be fine without him... He is a good player though so of course freo wouldn't want to lose him... Good that he told them now if its true.

I agree (if its true) that it is good that Freo have been told.

I do my best to inform the mis-informed eastern staters about the Dockers.

It is a shame that Palmer will likely be in the media all year - must be hard for a young player who has experienced such high highs and low lows in 3 years of footy.

1st Year - Early draft pick, Rising star
2nd Year - Knee reconstruction, poor return year.

Now he has to deal with this media scrutiny for the whole year.  From what has been seen at training he is back to what was so exciting about him in his first year - GUT RUNNING.  This boy knows how to gut run and that is one of his biggest assets (apart from knowing how to get the footy).

Will the media spotlight work to his favour in terms of performances? For Freo's sake, lets hope so.

I'm unsure as to whether to take him or not now for DT... ::)

Very likely to be a sub at some stage during the year

I find that quite hard to believe Cicjose.  I think Palmer (when fit - which he currently is) is in our best 22 quite comfortably.  He will be our Cross/Hayes type of midfielder - in and under the pack feeding it out.  His pre-season has shown that he is back to his gut running which means when he can get to every contest (very important with only 3 on the bench) feeding it out to the likes of Hill, Mundy, Fyfe for delivery in to the forward line.

That's part the reason why I think Lower was upgraded - to provide support for the half-back line and midfield.  Whenever someone from the HB or Mid needs a break then Lower will cover those spots.  So when Palmer gets a rest then Lower comes in and becomes the in and under midfield - so we dont lose anything.
