Well I am finally old enough to play veterans/masters football and I have decided to come out of retirement to play this season.  I have my first training session tonight.

It will have been 12 years since I last played a competitive game of footy.  Our first game is the first weekend of April so I will have 3 weeks of legend (wait for it) dary pre-season training. Surely that is enough to get me in to peak fitness for game 1  8)

We train once a week for an hour and the games are played every fortnight

Why do I get this vision of the simpsons softball episiode? "After every goal you have to chug a beer, after every 50 metre penalty you have to chug a beer....you chug a beer on every odd numbered point oh and the third quarters the beer quarter"  :P

I like the sound of that

Reckon you could do a Chappy & pull a hammy? Retire to the changerooms & become the official beer taster for the rest of the season. Oh n pulling the hammy received a dubious free kick, lined up 15 mts out, shanked the kick & out of bounds on the full. Hence the hammy. Lol

I normally play as backup ruck and in the back half - only pinch hitting up forward occasionally.  Well that's what I used to play - maybe I should tell them I am a forward pocket player ;)

or maybe just play 1/2 full on the fence

I start the week before you but I only play every fortnight - think I might need that to recover

roo boys!

Haha ;D

I'm going to have footy saturday morning, cricket saturday afternoon (off season training) and then footy again sunday morning. Each week. Going to be really struggling to keep up :-\

I will have Footy game every second Sunday with training every Wednesday.  I also have basketball on Thursday nights still as well.  Speaking of that - got semi-final for basketball tomorrow night.

roo boys!

Good luck :)

I never really got back into basketball after I broke my arm.

I havent ever stopped playing ball.  I am pretty excited about playing footy again - been about 12 years.

Go Valk!
I gave up footy to focus on cricket, I think it is just an excuse to give footy up though, I'd much prefer work on my cricket than my footy. Not that I will ever make anything out of any of it :P

roo boys!

Don't think like that Alex! You and me, I can see it :D The future of Australian cricket!
