i am picking isaac smith in the mids (regardless of playing time) and callinan in the fwd line.

the reason i am justifying this (especially with callinan) is because i have mpp's for coverage with byes and secondly because they will play at some stage.

so rather than use them as subs for playing, im using the to rotate with prem mpps and keep riding them on the pine.

is anyone else thinking of doing this or am i asking for trouble?

Not a big fan of the idea would rather be making money off my rookies.

I think ur asking for trouble i dnt know why everyone is so into MPP players if u pick ur rookies that are playing u shld be able 2 cover any bye etc with those bench players. and with ur strategy why i think its silly is because u will be loosing out on the money of those 2 bench spots that cld be filled with playing rookie cash cows therefor i think ur jsut loosing out on 2much money IMO anyway....what r ur thoughts ??

i can see your logic but very risky of failing.

i know you lose the money - but i think it allows you to play higher scoring players more often... my other rooks on the pine are cam richardson, luke tapscott fwd and harris, bewick mids.

I should also mention that i aim to keep 6 trades for my final 3 weeks and i am playing for the overall albeit amibtious.

ideally with my mpp flexibility i can cam richardson and harris play and use mpp to cover other losses when i have them.

i've run through all the byes and barring injuries (which im sure will occur) i can save trades, keep higher scoring players on the park.

TBH I never really used MPP last year. Sure it looks handy on paper but I didn't base my team on it ie Pav into mids or Chappy etc.. Never really affected me at all..

+ 1 agreed. making money is your best friend at the end of the day

I used the MPP more in the later part of the season.  During the beginning of the season it wasn't used that much, if at all.  In saying that there were no byes last year so it could be a viable strategy this year only.  I guess no-one will really know till the season progresses.

agree - never used MPP in the past.

As i said - i think this tactic is valid and could pay off injuries permitting. It makes sense to have the greatest number of higher averaging players on the field as possible. However i am essentially shortening my bench by 2 players for the first part of the season (callinan anyway).
