Giants Cup week 5 Discussion Thread

ok BP didn't feel like doing the write up's this week so i thought i''d do it
(just hope i can do an alright job at it:P )

Hammertown Warriors vs Gunz and Rozez
well first up we got Boomz and this could be a close one both teams last week rated within 1,500k of each other with the warriors just that little bit more but on a sticky wicket bowlers really will come into effect and a long batting lineup doesn't hurt either so comparing the two the warrioors have a stronger spin bowling attack but booms top order and middle order is just that little bit stronger

FF Win:? i reckon boomz might just squeeze home in a close one here

red thunder vs roo boys!
R&B one of only two people in the competition who is undefeated. myself being the other one
R&B has a who rating gap here to the effect of 16k only thing his opponent even gets close on is in the spin department

FF Win:? R&B to stay undefeated for sure you can bank this one

hilly's heroics vs pompei cricket club
Hilly's been active in the TM quietly going about building a stronger team and boy has he done that his going in with a 15k match rating advantage here with the middle order ratings close and his oppenent smashing the spin ratings
could an upset be on the cards?.i for one highly doubt it granted the oppenent has great spinners but hilly's top order and his seamers should prove way to strong

Tickle My Timber vs Steamrollers(c)
Once again Shaggy gear himself up taking on another captain and a 4k rating gap going shaggy'sd way will have him confident here.comparing the two teams shows that shaggy's bowlers are supirior but what could make this one a very close game is the batting depth the steam rollers have with rating of 9,9 and 5 for the top,middle and tail batting
Shaggy has this one i think granted the steamrollers have the depth to post a good score if there batsmen stay in but against shaggy's Superior bowling lineup i don't see that happening enough for shaggy not to chase or defend

Sleepingcow vs Hello
what an evenly matched contest we have here with only 81 points separating what both got last sunday. Sleepingcow has the adavantage wioth the batting he has a long lineup depth just like steamrollers did.but what HP has up his sleeve is his spin department and his fielind with a whooping 3k difference going to HP.So can HP pull this off? well it will be close but from what i have seen during this GC that a rating difference like that in the field can prove costly and if HP's team takes full advantage of that i cannot see why he won't
FF Win:? it's almost a 50/50 call but i reckon that fielding difference will be the telling factor with HP sneaking home for the big W

FF Showdowns

Fletch's No Balls vs Frankston XI
Fletch is another who has quietly amassed an amazing side he now rates up with the big boys on here and it truely is a credit to his TM skills in doing so. But this will be no easy win today with frankston XI still possesing the best win/loss ratio of anyone on here in games played between FF members. both had FF clashes last week and both came away with a win so now for thier showdown and what does there ratings from last week tell us?. that Fletch has surpassed frankston in the MR with a lead of 3k  looking in more closely we see that both side are fairly similar  with the only notable big difference is fletch with a 1k gap in the middle order. so who exactly shall win? well this is another that could swing either way here but me personally i reckon fletch shall take the cookies the way his gone about quietly building his side i reckon his probably built some great tactics to go with it
Winner:? Fletch in a close one

Golden C vs bombersXI
both of these guys have built impressive sides quickly B21 with the help of a massive YP sale and BB with some great TM work now what does there recent MR tells us? well B21 has a 10k rating difference going his way and on closer inspection we see that BB has a killer top order if they can stick around he could be in with a show indeed while on the other hand B21 has a great spin attack and a better middle order with some bertter fielding. So who can walk away with the win? i think B21 would be the favorite and should win here he just has too many areas his side dominates in though an oputside chane for BB is his top order if they get set this could become an upset
Winner:? B21 would seem to have this one but let me say that BB does have an outside chance here

The Brat Pack vs The Matchbox Matadors
BP has had a tough old time of the GC so far and he'll be looking to finish this competition strongly just to show his still a force to be reckoned with. Though i don't think CF will be too worried at all with BP having a 22k match rasting difference in his favour i'd have to say that CF would just be going for broke in this one and that can prove to work sometimes because the higher rated manager might go a little more laid back where as CF will be do whatever he can to make a dent in the armour of the bratpack. on closer inspection of the ratings we that CF only chance really is if his spinners have a field day and on a sticky wicket that could happen indeed but personally i think BP will prove his point that his still a force and he shall do that at CF's expense

and finally last one

dazburgs greatness vs john howard's coathangers
well the rivalry between ML and i is just heating up a friendly match played last week saw my team equal the rivalry at 2-2 but ML did miss out on setting his match orders so there's not much to be taken away from that. On to todays game and looking at last sunday's MR we see that ML has the MR advantage by 1k which means this is going to be another close match this round on closer inspection we see that ML easily takes the middle order and tail in the batting but the top order goes to me the bowling is close and the fielding goes my way by 1k.So who is going to win? I'd love to say that i would and go with R&B as the two only undefeated teams. though with ML he always seems to be the one to go that 1 up further and i'm always equaling him not the other way round. i'd love to be wrong but my gut instinct is telling me i'm in for a loss today and god i hope i'm wrong

Maybe, maybe not BOOMZ. The early wicket could allow your other batsmen to settle in hopefully if it happens but you never ever know with this game some times.

Nice write up daz. Totally agree that my only chance is if my spinners go crazy. They have a habit of doing so, but my weak batting lineup will fall easily to BP.
