I'd say a good 20 ppg increase is a solid breakout season. So from like 60-->80 or 80-->100 are harder to do that a 10 ppg increase.

generally the steps do seem to be:

50 > 65 > 85 > 95 > 105

was interesting to see someone post a 'breakout article' on dt talk.
ive been a long time advocate that the 3rd year is not the breakout year, but when dt started to become more popular, the big draft pick players did seem to be breaking out on the third year.
previously it was later... probably a sign of how games experience and the greater intensive training compared to that in the past is sculpting players.

its to hard to say
if a player averges 25 then 45 that isnt
but if a player averges 95 > 115 u cant rekly call that either
it depends on there previous averge

Interesting. But some rookies average about 60-70 first year in so can't really apply to them unless they skip the first step. It's a good example although it varying on when the player can actually peak/rise.

I chose not to vote in this poll, as I really do believe that you can't define this by a "ppg" increase.

It really comes down to what level the player is currently at as hawka mentioned.

I would consider for a breakout season, for someone averaging 50, they would have to increase their ppg by >50%, where as someone who averages 75, well they would only perhaps need to increase >30%.

However, on the other end of that, I wouldn't consider someone who has averaged 25, who now this season doubles their average to have had a breakout season.
