Cooney or Burgoyne

Both around same price.. which one to pick ? will Cooney be out injured ?

If Cooney is fit then take him. We will know a lot more when it's closer to round 1. He's playing in a VFL scratch match this weekend so we should know how he's travelling after that.

Jnr burger for me!! you may recall at the start of last season he had a knee injury and didnt play until round 8. He had no preseason now let's allow 4 games to get match fitness, in the following 12 games he played cracked the ton on 7 occasions. High score of 170 and low of 75 and I believe will pile on more runs. I will be surprised if he don't average over the 100 this year.

Cooney played 21 games cracked the ton 9 times a high of 170 and low of 9 hasn't been seen during the preseason. Expect a drop in Cooney's price initially and then grab him. I hope that's the sort of opinion your looking for. :)

Thanks Lewis.. Just wasn't sure bcz Cooney is a gun...but I take your point, plus Burgoyne won't get tagged either..

Burgouyne WILL be tagged has been his entire career he is too damaging to leave him running free he will probably be one of the first players tagged at Hawthorn this year, but he can handle it as hes scores from previous years would suggest. Cooney however can really struggle with a tag he will ALWAYS get 20+ possesions but he doesnt have the same scoreboard impact or class when he is getting heavy attention.

i would think burgoyne will be next in line after hodge to get the tag i think burgoynes more dangerous

Cooney has an alarmingly high s/deviation so I would go with Burgoyne.

Damaging player so he is a perfect fit for SC. Expect him to hold or increase his average this year, easily. Cooney has had an interrupted pre-season so he will probably start a little slow, so if you really want him (I would not advise it) then look at him as an upgrade target.
