Ruck Idea

Hey Coaches,
I would like to hear what your thoughts are on this idea.

As we all know each team is going to have 2 byes this year which means that both of our rucks are going to be out for 2 games (rocket scientist right here haha). The common theme to most ruck combos so far is cox and sandi I would suggest.
My question is, would it be worth not picking either of these players to start off with and picking 2 rucks which have their first bye mid season and then trade in cox and sandi when either of your starting ruckman have their first bye round? This way instead of your premium rucks having 2 byes, you are able to skip a bye at the expense of a trade.
Rucks with mid season byes include;
Brogan round 12
Graham round 11
Jolly round 7 (who I see upside in)
Ryder round 10(should benefit from Hille being eased back into the side, particularly early on)

So you could pick a ryder and jolly combo, save money and not have to worry about cover (barring injury of course) until jollys round 7 bye. By this time, the season would have run long enough for DT coaches to see if their 3rd and 4th rucks are going to be viable cover options for their ruck’s bye rounds. If not, you could trade one of them out for their bye rounds for cox or sandi and instead of it costing u 2 byes it only costs 1 (does cost 2 trades though). You could even hold onto these 2 players until rounds 15 and 16(if your ruck cover is good) and then you can get 9 cox games and 8 sandi games to close out the season and in doing so avoid the later ryder(all important round 24) and jolly(rd 13) byes. Perhaps this may be better for Ryder (or brogan and graham if you’re willing to risk these players) than it is for Jolly as he has 11 bye free rounds to close out the season.
Usually I go with the set and forget tactic but I am just keen to hear your thoughts if this is a good or total crap idea????

Cheers

Besides the trades it is the extra points it will cost you.

Say you have the money and trades to move Jolly to Sandi in round 7
You burn two trades ( to make the cash and bring in Sandi for Jolly )
By averages you will have given up 18.2 PPG for the first 5 rounds (91points overall)
Compared to the lets say 40 points having one of your bench cover Sandi in round 6 will cost you

i agree with what your saying, but i would also say that Sandi may decrease in price? and i think may increase say 25k in price, although you make a gd point about the points you lose for these selections, the initial 70k you save may make you more than the points you lose by using the cash in another position.

I must say after thinkin about it some more, i think this is far more suitable for a player like ryder than Jolly...

yorgis

firstly you lose the extra points up until  those rounds that cox and sandi would have made you , and secondly, what happens if you dont have the cash to upgrade,[upgraded other players who were'nt doing as well as you thought or LTI ] ?

Chopps

2 trades to cover 2 byes i dont think its worth it

cheers lads i will stick with sandi and cox then :)
