This is how I like to make a team. I add up what I think they should get each round and see what the total is. Then I play around with the team until I get the highest total. You have to be conservative too, like saying Swan will get 105 and not 140. This isn't perfect as it doesn't take into account byes or injuries but assuming you have cover it should be a fairly accurate guide.

Backs: Goddard (100), Gibbs (100), Deledio (85), Brougton (80), Adcock (75), Otten (65), Toy (60) Duigan, Mckernan, Puopolo (0) = 565

Mids: Swan (C - 210), Boyd (100), Chapman (100), Montagna (100), Harris (75), Swallow (70) Heppell, Atley, Smith (0) = 655

Rucks: Sandilands (100), Cox (90) Smith, Derickx (0) = 190

Forwards: Franklin (100), Riewoldt (100), Sylvia (95), Giansiracusa (95), Knights (80), Krakouer (70), Mzungu (70) Matera, Richardson, Callinan (0) = 610

The net total is 2020. Thoughts?

If only it were that simple. I think to a degree this is what we all do in our heads but 1 bad round for injuries/trades or in the case of this season the wrong players being rested in the wrong weeks and it all goes up in smoke. You have a very valid point though but I think if you're going to keep those averages above 2020+ per week your real work starts come round 1. Nice team btw 9/10.

my thoughts exactly glyman... gia 95? krak play every game for a 70 avg? sylvia def wont play 22 games and either will chapman. knights is a concern.

Yeh well, this method is by no means perfect but I'd just thought I'd share it. Wes Manooth, I know have taken a few risks here but if you play it safe in all positions you won't finish in the top 1000 which is my goal this year.

otten and adcock will get 10 points less than your proposed averages during the regular season IMO

whilst you have been conservative with the like of swan, krakouer imo wont get you 70 not that it really makes a difference in score to your team but just a point
