now petrie is out for round 1 and also has an early bye, is anyone else thinking of Ben Mcevoy as a fairly cheap second ruck??
Played pretty well on the weekend and should get number 1 ruck at the saints

Yeah, but has McEvoy got the potential to score as highly as Petrie - who could score 70's-80's, whereas McEvoy's best average for a seaon is 58... Not great - wouldn't want a 55/58 from my 2nd ruck every week - especially when I could be getting 70's or 80's!

Anyway, why are some people panicking about Petrie just because he's been rubbed out for Rd. 1??? We were all more than happy to snap him up when we knew he had a Rd. 3 bye, so why now that he's missing Rd. 1 (only one game & theoretically the easiest round to cover for missing players, as you def. know who'll be playing & aren't worrying about trades, etc.) - has everything changed??

Just my thoughts... But I'm keeping him!!  :)

ia lot of people were a bit sus about petrie in the first place, now that he played poorly in the nab, gets suspended for rnd 1, plays against the premiers in rnd 2. has a bye in rnd 3. and then has to travel to pattersons to play freo in rnd 4, i think its probably confirmed most people's doubts about him. i'm not saying that he's not worth picking up now, but. i would be more inclined to  wait and see and maybe pick him up later

Has a proven track record, is sub 300K, DPP and will play all games he is available for.  This screams lock and a 1 week suspension (in a week where coverage for Petrie should be guaranteed) doesn't change anything in my opionion.

Put it this way - Lance Franklin is a cert to do something stupid at some stage of the season and get himself rubbed out for a couple.  But he'll still be in plenty of team even at his price.

i will just be waiting untill i see more ruckmen at work before locking my no.2 ruck... i'm sure some other underated ruckmen will play well this week and everyone will be all over him... either way, i never had petrie in my team as i dont think he will average much more than 70 this year... he will play deep in the forward line most of the first half of the season and being a kangaroos supporter the ball isnt going to get there as much as i hope it will.
