Admittedly I had forgot all about Petrie.   :-X

So, I downgraded Zaharakis to Petrie in Fwds and Upgraded to Montags.  8)

Holz

Im not sure that putting him as your second ruck it being outsmarted as i think the value is in the forward line this year with very few true premiums i can only think of franklin chappy and voldt as players who pull out scores like midfielders. there are soo many good rookie choices mzungu and richardson made me comfortable starting them on my field and there are heaps of bench options with the likes of prestia, krakoer, callinan and matera etc..., also i see huge value in knigts and higgins this year, so i would never pick him in the forward line.

So korza is your suggestion that you should not pick him based around the fact you dont believe he will average 80+, because you stated how basically everyone has him, so if he does pump out an 85+ average wont that basically take you out of the race for the car.

not to get off topic but r u sure Korza was the highest placed Mc?

Shaggy(8-6) finished top 50 (30 something if i remember correctly)

at that price i dont think u can ignore Petrie one way or another and there is just as much argument to support set and forget rucks rarely pan out... just bcos 100,000 peeps have Dane Swan/Andy Otten/David Swallow/Daniel Harris wont detract from me selecting them... i look at it more like holding serve 8)

Zarts

Pretty much what holz said, if he goes awesome, and you don't have him, for his price you've just dropped yourself out of a pretty high ranking. I think the only reason to even question petrie atm is just based on his kinda slack performance this NAB cup.

I hear ya Korza, but i suggest it takes more than 1 player to get you the car.
Personally I see Petrie more as a, "key ring ornament." than the actual key!  :P
I'm not sold on Petrie at all, maybe it was the nightmare I had...... seeing him wearing the RED vest, 10mins into Kangas 1st game this year!!!   :o
Seriously tho, rnd1- Wce in WA, rnd2- Coll, rnd3- Bye, rnd4- back to WA vs Freo.....pretty ugly, really!
I'm gonna try the "Set & Forget,"-hopefully it works!
People will say I'm crazy, but I'm going with Ryder/Cox combo, with McEvoy & Z.Smith on the bench! ;)
I believe McEvoy has great upside this year- main ruck at Saints, can take a strong grab...play fwd, 75+ average not unrealistic imho.
No reason why he cant score 70+ vs Bris in rnd5 when covering for Cox, & 75+ vs Hawks, (ave rucks) in rnd 8, when covering for Ryder.
Here's a sample team-

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Doughty, Rance, Otten, Heppell
(Puopolo,Duigan,Toy)
M: Swan, Boyd, Bartel, Kornes, Gibbs, Melksam
(Swallow,Harris,Callinan)
R: Ryder, Cox (McEvoy, Smith)
F: Chapman, Riewoldt, Harvey, Zaharakis, Gamble, Mzungu, Krakouer
(Richardson,Prestia,Matera)
Cash Left:$29,700

Doesn't look the strogest of teams, but solid enough with plenty upside as I'm happy to downgrade Melksam to H.Bennell, after rnd 3,(before Bennell's 1st price rise,) if he's not fulfilling my expectations, & likewise with say, Rance to Coad/Hunt/Stanley for example.
Could net me $200K+, also strengthening my team....more cover for byes too.

So yeah, Petrie  definately not the "must have," that the masses are suggesting!

P.S Team above is nothing like my REAL  team, hahaha, BUT Petrie ain't in it & McEvoy is definately on the pine!

Should take a vote......Petrie or no Petrie??? (unless its been done- I'm fairly new to FF.)

P.P.S Hope you survived the Live Chat ATTACK!!!

@MrRooster thank you for your kind words i am not here to boast. But i dont mind putting my thinking forward on a player that will be in the top 5 selected overall. As i have stated it is a no win situation with this player, trust me on this one. To those who have said just trade if he is not performing NO CHANCE your just kidding yourself.
@Chopps I appreciate your comments and take them on board, you have made some very valid points. I hope that you will take a step back and fully understand my theory.
To all who read, this thread was posted prior to Petrie's dismal performance in the NAB cup. But as i have stated, discount his scores they are totally irrelevent.

Definately agree korza after the fact that petrie is missing 2/3 games even if he does rise in price it will only be untill week 9-10 and do you want someone scoring you 50's till then???? I fixed up my team and i downgraded Revoldt to zaharkis and upgraded petrie to cox now this is a DEFINATE win for me

Footy God

Knights a far better otpion IMO

sure have if he cops a ban it will make it a no brainer, but still weighing up your arguement, having said that i see your point and the merit too it.
