To all my fellow Fanfooty members,

I am going to identify what i believe will be the key behind The Keys To the Car. "DREW PETRIE". Surely to be in the top 5 or 10 overall players selected.

* All of the realistic contenders will have Sandilands as thier no 1 ruck in thier squad.
* If you have Petrie as the 2nd ruck as 85% of teams do, fair enough, play safe, and rob yourself of having a 100pt player in Cox or now a more developed Ryder with the doubts over Hille.
* If you have Patrie as a forward and if he were to score heavily (which i doubt) you will be one of the lucky 15% who have him playing as a premium in the 6th or 7th fwd position.
*However if you have Petrie as the 2nd ruck as 85% of you do, and if were to score heavily (which i doubt) well done you have a mid priced player playing in a premium spot. And so does the other 100,000 plus teams.
* In summary i am going to place my self with the all the nuff nuffs and not pick him in either position. If i have him as a ruck i lose and if i have as a forward i lose. I hope to enjoy the comment directed at Petrie during Live Chat.

With Regards

he is in my second ruck he makes me enough to upgrade him jobs done, he isnt a keeper. the money i save i ll have a better player somewhere else so i dont think it all hinges on petrie or not petrie

Footy God

You lost me. What are your reaosns for Petrie not performing? You will lose if he does well as a lot of teams have him.

upthemaidens

if there were no salary cap, then sure no one would have him, but there is so finding value is pretty important.  the point u make could be made about a few players i.e. andy ottens as a 6th backman. lots will have him,but he wont score aswell as enright.  sure sandilands/cox starting ruck will be the best option, but there has to be team balance.. back on petrie though, this is how i see it  (barring injury),worst case scenario is he will score 50-60 points go up maybe 100k, trade him after 6 or 7 rounds. yes it has cost u a trade, but u make alittle cash.. best case scenario is he averages 85-95 points and u have yourself a 2nd ruck keeper which only cost u 200k,,..  being different for the sake of being different wont win ya the car either...

all the serious will not all have sandilands. i agree with your point its a waste to miss out on somelone like cox thats why im going cox and petrie.

remeber the guy who won year started with no premiums in the ruck.  Do you really think sandilands will be able to increase in value and for me its not worth picking a pler who you would be happy keeping there average unless its swan, boyd, montagna or goddard.

Chopps

i cant see sandilands holding value either, also another hit for rd 6 if you already have chappy, buddy, bartel/selwood & or broughton/duffied not saying you would have all of them

I dont understand even if petrie averages 70 to 80 which he is more than capable of doing then he has done a job for you?

Footy God

Petrie locked in my forwards, straight swap to Goodes/Didak at round 11ish :)

Slap

yeah ^^, plenty of counter arguments to your post.  Im hungover though and can't be bothered writing them.

Chopps

Feel free to write em up later. Full preseason, played 22 games the last 3 seasons before last year and averaged 86 and 84. 29 this year so certainly not past it. Priced at 210 k, just 70k more than someone like Krak who I don't have faith in. Drew Petire=proven performer.

i dont think so, they will have him by the end though

no you wont coz you save 150 k and spend it else where

you will have a stronger forward line for sure but that money is coming from somewhere so you have to sacrafice another spot for him, prbably another MP.

based on that dont pick ottens or adcock or any other mp that will do well because lots of other teams will have them, what they do with them once they have served there purpose is a different thing and will set everyone apart, if thats the case i am already doing better then 200 thousand other teams yourself included.

not picking petrie is your own choice but choosing him to be different i dont think is wise, but who is playing as your second ruck and sixth forward if not petrie is it another MP if not where is all the money going or not going?

To all of those who have read and particularly to those who have replied to my thoughts on Petrie a big thank you.
I will try and simplify my reasoning.
Due to the massive popularity of Petrie and directed slightly more to to those who have him in the ruck spot.

If you have him in your 2nd ruck position you have strategically being out smarted by those who have him in a more protected 6th or 7th fwd position, regardless if he were to score.

If you have have him as your 6th or 7th fwd will you be happy with the 100,000 or so teams having him in the premium no 2 ruck spot if he were to score.

Either way if you have selected petrie don't cheer for his every stat, cause it is not doing you any favours.
Live chat will be interesting come the North games

Do you know where he played when he averaged 86 and 84? It looks like he will play forward this year with McIntosh and Goldstein in the ruck????

Listen to the theories of this man people  ;)

Korza, if you wold just remind the throng of where you finished last year, that should back up any advice you are so happy to share.

This, gentlemen, is advice coming from FanFooty's highest finishing DT player from last year.
Use it, don't abuse it  ;)
