Carlton Season 2011

In this thread, shall be talked about the blues season for 2011. How do you think we will go, what spot do you think we will get? etc

Also thoughts on every weeks games and everything.

Our backline does look strong. With Duigan and Watto coming in. It can free up some players. Scotland is still doing it the hard way and is a gun. Bower seems to be just running around in circles but he can come up with some fantastic plays. Jamo's looked alright in NAB. Dont no why he went forward? Armfield, Davies, Laidler will all be fighting for there spot. Russell aswell should start after a great year in 2010

Our mids are all guns and will be in the future. We have simmo with his booming left kicks, murphy and gibbs who will play more mid time this year, is that right? Judd and i hope McLean can get some games

What do you see as the weaknesses in the Carlton team?

Carlton seem to be at a cross-roads. I'm interested to see which direction they'll take.

I still think structural problems will stop them being a serious threat, and those players you mentioned will help, you just can't rely on 1st year players no matter how mature!

Lot of reason to be hopeful, will be interesting to see what Ratten does

Given the age of the Carlton midfield, I personally think they only have two years at best to peak. It is a very good midfield and is very experienced vs a very inexperienced defence and attack, especially the spine, which has a great deal of potential, but not something you could rely on this year.

imo its all going revolve around the success of our backline... if Yaz and the backline cant defend and rebound with efficiency we will be the same as last year... frustrating

Hmm id probably say our backline. It isnt solid enough, it aint bad, but it aint a geelong like at skilled stadium. some targets getting missed etc, but i just think that maybe this year it will step up a notch to a new level, this with our new draftes coming in. If so this can happen, our mids are developing very nicely and we have some hard ball getters in there. We have the pace with betts, yarran, garlett etc so that aint a worry.
