Is the big cox back to his best or is Sandliands going to monster the comp again?

I only have room for one. With Petrie the other option (He doesnt fit in my forward setup)

Whats your opinon?

You can't really go wrong with either, Coxy was good yesterday but I don't think you can go past Sandi - he will average the most points in the rucks again imo.

i have both. can't go wrong with 2 premium ruckmen. but if i had to choose, i'd go sandi.

+1 - with Clarke and now Griffin, he'll get plenty of support so hopefully inj risk will be lowered.

if you can't afford or don't want to risk Sandy, I think Cox will be ok, but probably just not as good as Sandy ...

personally, i think it a waste to have both (can use the money elsewhere) but i have considered the combo with both of them a number of times this pre-season ...

if you spread your money around, it limits your money to be made via rookies.  I have both and thats how it'll stay.

I think the recruitment of Griffen and the development of Clarke will see Sandi's scoring stagnate or even drop.

Reason: Less TOG and more time spent managing his massive frame to prevent injury. With good backup, I believe the Dockers will have no problem resting big Sandi (so he is fit for the big matches and finals) and putting experience and game time into his two successors. Which might mean Sandi misses games, or sits them out as Sub, or worse, is subbed off.

So right now, I would pick Cox if I had to choose one (I have them both).

Because: He is cheaper, and has more scoring potential in that he could once more be a 100+ avg player, he is injury free, he moves like a midfielder, he is fit and the Sub rule will mean he gets more TOG due to lack of rotations/one less bench player. Also, Nic Nat isnt looking like dominating just yet, and the Eagles seem intent on playing him in a more forward role (if last night was anything to go by).

nah i reckon with a little help he will just go up fwd wont go off as much.
He will kick more goals this season for sure.
Lets get one thing straight...there is no way the likes of clarke will lower Sandis scores, he is number one and the number one reason for them to win games particularly in tight contests.

So you're saying the Dockers will play Sandi all year without proper ruck support like last year, with maybe Johnson or Bradley Pinch hitting.

And Leave Clarke and Griffen in the WAFL?

I doubt it.

One of the reasons Sandi was scoring so well last year was because of the massive TOG he got which was the result of him not having a decent dedicated backup. Which also resulted in him developing an injury and him missing three games before the finals.

I doubt that the Freo coaches will manage him the same this year given they recruited Griffen, and Clarke is looking like he will be a good ruckman.

I'm not saying his scores will definately decrease but there is a chance, however,  I do think he has hit his scoring peak.

Which means the Number 1 ruck position really isnt as set in stone as some people make it.

To me its a three horse race, Cox, Sandi, Ryder (although he is no good for anyone going for league win).

There are other options like Hmac, Goldstein. But they are also no good for people going to league wins and the Return of Petrie could impact both or either negatively.

Then there is Clarke and Burger, both too risky IMO because they've both only had one good season each.

Hille is aging and the Dons have a bye in rd 24.

Mummy or Jolly are probably the only two other contenders, however Mummy will be competing with Seaby again, a battle he should win out on.

I think that Sandi and Clarke will both play with each of them swapping between Ruck and Forward.  If anything I think his TOG will stay the same if not increase.  Clarke spent a lot of time last year playing up forward in the WAFL.  I think they were preparing him last year for this year.

im actually tipping cox to be the number 1 ruck in the comp again. Im starting cox and not sandilands as i really dont see sandi being able to increase much in value, wheras cox is undervalued.

Bluke

Thats what I'm getting at Holzman. Although I think Sandi will still be a dominant ruckman worthy of a spot in my DT.

Cox is getting old.  Sure he is fresh and looked good the other night.  But how long until he goes down with another LTI.  Stick with youth.  If not Sandi, then surely Ryder who is just about ready to make his mark.

Big_Cox14

I've got both. But don't think you can go wrong with either one IMO.

Cox hasnt had an LTI.  He has carried injuries but always played with them.
