The NAB Cup is here and that means it's SuperCoach recruiting time. MATT WINDLEY casts an eye on the young talent on show in the pre-season competition who could be the next SuperCoach star.

FINDING cheap kids that will play games, and play games early, is a key to your Supercoach success.

The $10 million salary cap means you can't stack your team with superstars. You need bargain basement picks to fill spots on your bench, and this year he NAB Cup is here and that means it's SuperCoach recruiting time.

If you rate under-18 national championships form then Western Bulldogs father-son pick Mitch Wallis ($103,600) is your go-to guy.

"From a Supercoach perspective, Mitch Wallis was the standout player in the under 18 national championships last year,'' says Glenn Luff of Champion Data.

"He played three games for Vic Metro and averaged 141 points.''

Or how about Josh Green ($103,600), the No.32 pick now with the Brisbane Lions?

"Josh Green playing for Tasmania in the champs averaged the second most points with 132 in five games,'' Luff said.

"He might be one a lot of people don't think about.''

If you place stock in TAC Cup form, Andrew Gaff ($173,600), West Coast's first pick of the draft at No.4, certainly ticked all the boxes for the Oakleigh Chargers last season.

"You want guys that are playing early, blokes like Andrew Gaff for West Coast,'' Luff says.

"West Coast's midfield is struggling, this guy is a ball magnet, runs all day, and averaged 114 in seven TAC Cup games last year for Oakleigh.

"In five national championship games he averaged 119.  "He's a good pick, I reckon he'll be a guarantee,'' Luff says.

Gaff's teammate Jack Darling is another player to consider.

"Jack Darling ($103,600) holds the all-time SuperCoach record of any game that we've covered,'' Luff said.

"In the under 18's in 2009 at Cararra he scored 308 points. It was unbelievable.''

Both Gaff and Darling will be on show when the Eagles open their NAB Cup campaign against Hawthorn and Fremantle tomorrow.

Of course you can't go past the No.1 draft pick, especially one as well credentialled as David Swallow ($188,600).

"Swallow averaged the second most SuperCoach points for the Suns in the VFL last year,'' Luff says.

"Daniel Harris was the Suns' top-ranked player followed by Swallow. And of course he came fourth in the Liston Trophy, so he can obviously play.

"He's going to be the obvious choice for most popular player.''

Was going to go, but really struggled getting up at 8. Opted out.

Also Uteboy, did you even read that article? Has nothing to do with the Western Bulldog intra-club match.
