Look I've seen this a few times, and I really just want to get everyone's opinions in one spot

A fair few teams I've seen have had in their rucks players like jippett/hale on the bench, and petrie on the forwards, obviously with the intent to switch around, if in the even one of the rucks gets injured.

what's everyone's opinions on it? IMO, Jippett won't be getting much game time and subsequent scores, while hale/lobbe just blow.

however, I can see the temptation, for example, if I do a bit of switching I can get petrie in my front line and can have both sandi and cox in my rucks... and jippett will probably get game time if I got lucky and fraser got injured.

anyway, opinions?

with sandi and cox in the ruck i'd be going with 2 basement rookies on the bench.

You are going to need at least 1 bench cover who can cover the 4 games that Sandi/Cox will have as byes

I've got Jippet in there with Petrie in the forward lines to cover Coz and Sandi's byes as an extra backup, Petrie will still make the cash, but yes, Jippett might be a waste of space.

Zarts

that's the thing, with jippet on my bench, I can still cover them for byes through petrie in the fwds, and jippett is reasonably cheap.

Chopps

but..... if you have sandilands, and two of buddy, pav or chappy you need all three forward benches to play in rd 6, also means you dont want i smith and mzungu on your forward benches unless your going for league win in which case it dont matter

I just bit the bullet and got K. Tippett as my 2nd ruck

I've currently got him as my 2nd ruck too, don't know what happened last night but he scord 2 :'( ???

Anyone know the reason why....I won't accept "he's sh!te" as an answer as my rucks DPP depends on him

I DONT HAVE PETRIE IN MY TEAM

You'll be sorry!

Fire still burning deep from last season ol mate eh. Seeing all that cash going backwards.
The swap with Petrie (MPP) is an advantage that a teams will use for cover & having him in the Fwds also after the byes is a Fwd upgrade vs a Ruck Upgrade. IMO

I am thinking to do the petrie Jippet swap as well
Just have to see how petrie is going in the next couple of weeks

Chopps

would you get petrie if he was valued at 243 not 209? also are you having him as a keeper in your forwards? or just till he has covered the 4 byes

Going on what we saw last weekend, Tom Derickx contributed nicely and will hopefully see some early season gametime. Especially with both Angus Graham and Tyrone Vickery being .. well .. poor. If Derickx (or substitute the rookie of your choice) plays consecutive games and posts reasonable scores he may actually prove to be quite a reasonable cashcow - something unheard of for rookie rucks.

If that pans out to be the case, a scenario something like this (below) would seem feasible  -

Start with 2 premium rucks - 211,cox,jolly,ryder .. etc.
Start with 2 ruck rookies on the bench - Derickx,Zac Smith,Redden etc.
Start with Petrie in the forwards.

You may need to cover an early season bye (or 2) in the rucks with a rookie before their value matures  .. But then you've the opportunity to cashout on one of those rookies for J.Tippett - who more than likely wont play..  giving yourself the ability to move petrie from the forwards.  All depends how brave you are :)
