i know this gets asked every year, sry if this has already been talked to death.

am i wrong in thinking with bye's and rule changes this year it is easier to justify in having 200-300k+ left over for early premium upgrades?

Yeah this was discussed a few weeks ago, i think there was a consensus that since we have byes that 70k+ would be good, 300k might be a bit much though.

usually i have quite a lot but this year seems to be different, there is so much young talent and at the moment i have 15 prems with 100 left so although in unfamiiar territory because im usually above 400k my team looks awesome and hopefully with youngens stepping up barring injury of course i could have a full squad of prems quicker then ever!!

In the past the first 3 rounds didn't count for the individual leagues so I always kept some cash and did some early bargain hunting. This year it ramps up from round 1, perhaps having some cash for round 5-7 might be better this year when the byes are on.

It is a contentious issue as you can see form the link.

Most people leave a little, ~50K or so. Last year I left ~700K and this year at the moment I have 625K although I think that number will reduce a bit, maybe 500K-550K.

If you leave big money though, you have to plan for it and craft a team structure rather than just pick the best you can get for the money you have. It is risky and requires very good rookie selections and even then can fall over.
