bare with me this will sound stupid BUT apparently D swallow wasnt a very good dt scorer in the vfl last year. my point is he may be a jet player but an anerage dter? thoughts on not starting him?

Probably won't have him. For 60K less there are lots of other rookies who could score the same (and go up to about the same value)
The 60K is better spend elsewhere imo!

yes this was also my thinking, dont quote me but.... i have heard he only averaged about 65 in the vfl in a year he won an award (a good one too). i am thinking even if you save 20k and get gaff or even down to 60k and pick up atley or someone :)

also why the name change RB?

Not a name change. Have been using this one for a few years.

Have to wait to season proper before deciding on Gaff.
John W likes to wait untill a few rounds in before they get a go. (might be different with Gaff because he bring a lot of run through the middle)

i have the 2011 prospectus and according to that he averaged 82.4 dt points in the vfl in 15 matches last season.  think i have added and divided appropriately.  That is impressive considering he was 18.  of course the afl is another step up but it is also a higher possession game so it isnt too far fetched to expect that average to go up.  Good luck finding other rookies that will score the same as that

All relative though, a cheaper rook might go up less but cost less

okay i have heard that swallow ave'd only 65 odd somewhere, in that case hmmm maybe i should get him, but then i will have to change my team again :(

however swallow will have to make almost 70k more on someone like pat contin to make a profit. i will be happy if contin gets up to 250k and when/if he does i will have been able to use the 70k elsewhere eg jolly -----> sandi also GC have rough byes

no afl games last yr and only one good nab cup game to his name and he's on the rookie list

Unless Swallow has a screaming NAB I'm not inclined to pay over the odds for a rookie. You can get a decent rookie mid and upgrade a mid-ranger to premium status instead.
At the end of the day rookies are there to make cash and eventually be flipped into premo's (who are there to score points) for the finals, I'd never assume they are keepers. Of course some do make the grade eg Rockliff last year but you can't know that pre-season
