i dont think i will open open the season with swan or ablett.

ablett wont be protected or get the same feed from gc in the beginning, plus he will be eased into the season, so expect a 10-15% reduction in price imo.

swan was the most heavily rotated player, and with the new interchange rules i expect also a 10-15% drop in price some stage in the first 8 rounds.  plus there is the possibility of him losing a little of the hunger during the early season stages, and/or easing his way into the season and leaving it for when it counts later.

leaving these two out pretty much means i will need judd - or do i? (i think i do)

-The FURY List-

B - goddard, broughton, enright, malceski, gilbee, heppell, coad - tape, smith, hibberd
(god for obvious reasons, broughton and enright for consistency, malceski improving so long his knee doesnt go ping or whateva sounds a LARS makes, and gilbee just cos.)

M - selwood, pendlebury, gibbs, corey, anthony, harris - isles, mzungu, wallis
(i have gone with youth in selwood, pendles and gibbs, all improving and outstanding players, corey and anthony will be dropped for swan/ablett etc.   hopefully anthony improve before being injured again.

R - sandilands, jolly - petrie, cordy
(jolly to be dropped for mumford when healthy, petrie and cordy for cash.

F - r riewoldt, j reiwoldt, mcglyn/ROK/franklin, knights, krakouer, c richardson, prestia -  lynch, cook, tapscott
(frontline needs work, mcglyn will get better but gets injured, ROK doesnt get injured but wont get better, franklin is franklyn but maybe best left as an upgrade option?)

128k left over, bit of refining to do i know.  I am leaning on the side of extra upgrades/good value this year and less keepers in the first few rounds.

so am i crazy or what?

i assume judd/cross should be added  to my midfield.

constructive criticism welcome, insults also welcome if they are funny.

Trolls, as always, you are not required.

thnx ppl.

A lot of people won't open with Swan or Ablett, including me. :) Judd won't be necessary either imo.

However, Goddard is an absolute must this year. Exclude him at your peril. Look out for a 135+ average.

Goddard for brownlow.

Captain for me.

I wont have Swan Ablett or Judd. Maybe Judd but we will see

+1 agree totally, especially with his great consistency, didnt have a game under 90 pts last year, thats just crazy  :o

Usman

ye you are crazy who is R Riewoldt?

Ablett is a risk due to the price tag and the unknown but he is the best for a reason and makes things happen. Im seriously considering him as a unique.

Swan shouldnt be affected by the new rule as he has a massive tank. The constant interchanging helped him from getting constant attention from the opposition but now the new rule is in who will keep up with him to tag him?

Either way if your going for overall you have to have one ultra premium in the mids its were all the points are!

enzedder

Not crazy but I would have Swan.
Ablett may not be in lots of teams early in the season due to GC byes and people waiting to see how he scores at his new team.
Selwood and Pendles should score well again... you have Goddard, Sandilands, Riewoldt and other premiums from which to choose as Captain so you'll be competitive.

i just got back onto this forum yesterday....just realised this would have been spoken to death here for the last 5 months, heh heh.

judd or cross for midfield?

ps - above left-over $128k is based on having Franklin.

I have the same question theta with judd and cross??

Not necessarily. As long as you have Goddard in the backline, you can well get by with premium mids such as Murphy, Dal Santo, Pendlebury, Hodge etc. who can average your 110-115.

I'm considering leaving ablett, judd, and swan out of my initial side, especially with all three missing 2 games thru byes early in the season, so Fury, you are not crazy at all.

They may all present at better value at some stage throughout the season, and would be better pick ups after their byes are out of the way.

I think Juddy will be a no-no for me all year. Already having the improving Murphy and a bye in round 23 (?) is the final blow for me.

Going for overall? league? does it matter? its too hard too choose

Cross should get better again have not heard anything about him this pre season which is a good thing.

Judd's pre season has not been quite as good as last year due to little niggles. but he is a freak as we all know

Same age. Cross probably in a better team. Judd gets more clearences. similar tackle counts. similar scoreboard impact. similar disposals. Cross uses the ball alot better. judd has 2 more contested possesions a game. Judd gets more inside 50's but cross gets way more free kicks. Judd just came off a brownlow and it tends to drop players scores the following year for some reason. let me tell you, you cant decide for a reason.

good answer.

i expect an even better season from juddy this year. carlton looking for the ups are gonna get the best of him.

regarding starting with swan/ablett...
you just need to think about whether you need the points or money. you can only have one or the other - and seeing as the games all about points, im taking swan. ablett will be in my team sometime after round 6
