I thought it was time we tackled quite the challenging question of who is the best ever Collingwood player. I know this is usually Barlow's turf (apologies) but I think this may be rather challenging vote. Rarely does a club have so much history and different eras of success so I've included some brief stats.

Lets throw it open, comments welcomed.

Collier boys a bit harsh done by Cruise! And Syd Coventry, and Jack Regan

I'll give it to Coventry and McKenna though

If I could have combined the Colliers I would have & yep Jack & Syd are harshly done by, its tough at the top of the top.   ;)

Interesting you point out that McKenna played 11 games for Carlton. You obviously don't think he's worthy, or are trying to steer votes away from him.... :P

No steering, to be fair I should have mentioned Buckley played a season with Brisbane. The rest of the main list were all one club players, in the other column Des Tuddenham also went to Essendon.

Hard to pick really though. Everyone exxcelled in different areas and eras.

Coventry is a must I feel, McKenna is close. But I think I will go with daicos for a 2nd pick behind Coventry. Man was a genius.

i know stats etc probably point to others on this list but i grew up watching Peter Daicos and he was inspirational...

He was always my idol as a kid. I remember lining up at the point post trying to kick goals like he did every time he hit the field... For hours I tried and tried. What he could do with the pill was beyond words, by far the most skillful person I have ever known to play the game.

RiOtChEsS

absolutely agree... whatever goal he kicked that week id be in the front yard trying to replicate it as soon as the game was over :)

same at training or school everyone wanted to be the magician 8)

Presti is a fair call Dylsta.

One of many cult figures likes James 'Charlie' Manson, Fabulous Phil Carmen, Lou Richards and Darren Millane. Another poll for another time perhaps.

Millane... I have a signed jersey of his framed, My dad gave it to me, was his and its authentic. ;x

Was a great player, great guy. Big loss to the Collingwood F.C

The best ever Collingwood Player. That's a tough question. Hard to pick because there have been many players in different positions and different eras that have excelled for Collingwood over the years.

The most talented I've ever seen would probably be Daicos (Some of those goals magical). Can see a lot of similarities between Didak and Daicos.

The most consistent I've seen would be Bucks. Even when Collingwood didn't have the most talented squad while he was playing, he was a role model of consistency.

In terms of the best of all time, Gordon Coventry's name gets raised a lot and his record probably explains why.
