Just a thought, anyone or have any thoughts on starting 3 rookies in their midfield this year as I think once again, the gold is all in the midfield? I.e. Swallow Polec Gaff/Atley

Hoggy

definitely a viable stratergy. I had the same dilemma last year and opted to start with just the two rookies.. regretted it all year. Worth taking a risk if it means the rest of your team is fairly solid IMO.

I think there is a lot of merit in it myself. I went with 5 rookie mids last year. I think the issue is, if you do that this year (being 6 rookies/rookie priced) is to make the other 3 mids absolute top shelf mids! I am probably not going Ablett but Swan, Boyd, Hayes, Montanga, Bartell, etc are the types to go with your 6 rookies.

Last year I also went with Martin, Scully and Trengove (which I think was somewhat unique (i.e. going all 3 and not just 2 of the 3). It left me with Cash in the bank at the start season.

This year, I think adding MultiPositional players on the mid bench could work as well with this stradegy. But, we could be wrong!

i have 4 starting rookies with Ablett, Harris and Liberatore on the bench

Cicjose, brave move mate!!! U must love Ablett that much! Im gonna wait till round 14? when GC has their last bye and Jump on him then.

3 rookie mid seems the way to go for me atm and it's where the dosh will be made. I'll keep an eye on them! If it works out, I might change adcock to Enright or Knights to a premium.

Cicjose

I am keeping ablett because surely you can't miss his scoring

McRooster

Coaches who went with this strategy last year made slow starts to the season but did come home strong. The majority of which ended up with a 5-8k rating.
The trouble is by the time you upgrade your rookies and grab your jets you have set yourself too far behind the pack to make an assault at the top 1000.

Cicjose

My team is well covered over byes

Injuries my team is not going to be covered very well i think

??? he wont be scoring much rnd 1.perfect upgrade target rnd 9 after gc have their last bye.dodgy groin and a new team = drop in price

Cicjose

i'll take 90 from him with dodgy groins (he has had that problem for years anyway)

McRooster makes a valid point. What if the rookies fire up in the pre season comp? Would you think about the strat then or still think the same result will occur?

I think this is a great idea to strengthen up the rest of your side, but in order to plave three starting rookies you must have 3 top notch premiums  ;) and the three rookies i would go for would be along the lines of harris, polec, swallow, gaff!!

And i also agree that its ideal for the league win, if overall it may not come out the way you hoped!

also, by picking 3 rookies and 3 premiums you're missing out on the potential of those mid-pricers.. especially anthony
