been pondering my team and my selections. atm i don't have swan but i do have pendles. i was thinking swan would be like 650k margin b4 today but he aint. he is 617k. what was the lowest he got to last season.. maybe 580k at lowest or something?? there are a few players or probably alot of players we will think b4 season starts, is this a good buy? considering swan's lowest price was the high 500k's, i'd say starting him for 30k more than his lowest price last season is a good buy! but its the case with most of the prem mids. i guess if we are going for prems and rookies we may as well select super prems as starters cos we can at a decent price. Conversely, wew can select dam good prems at the 500k to 550k area. My current midfield is:- pendles, boyd, jack, anthony, gaff, d.swallow. emg - ben jacobs, callihan, mzunga.
so i ask would u select swan at 617k or pendles at 537k? i have 400k spare atm, i do want money in the kitty tho. i've picked my team thus far with the view in mind that i want players with upside (besides GOD)
this year ion some areas seems easier but in other areas it seems more difficult this year, please add to the discussion and have a whinge or bring up your prediciment!!!            ;D 8)

The money is just a number. They've changed the magic number, so saying that:

"he is 617k. what was the lowest he got to last season.. maybe 580k at lowest or something"

Doesn't really matter, because they've worked it out a different way. Its almost like saying $50 today is worth the same as $50 20 years ago. It doesn't make sense anymore.

Exactly. "Cheaper" isn't really the best description of what has occurred. The value of the currency is what has changed.

gday ossie!!
are u sure about that?? i'm not having a dig i just want to know if the weekly players price valuations will be the same as last season. i thouight we just got a bit of compensation due to 3 extra players with starting prices as the salary cap is still 10 mil. so what ur saying means that rookies will not go up in value as quick as well if the magic number has changed??
- are u saying players won'tchange in value like they did last year? it will be a slightly slower incline/decline in prices? so 700k is not like 700k last year??? please help and clarlfy someone!! this will change my approach to selecting players

I am getting both Pendles and Swan, its only two rounds that i have to worry about with byes for them so who cares, they are both guns so i am selecting both.

I'm saying, relatively, rookie prices won't change at all compared to last year. As the magic number is lower, they will look like they aren't getting as expensive as quick, but in reality they are moving the same speed as 2010.

And $700k is probably around $640k this year (not exactly, I'm too lazy to work it out properly atm)

I think the general consensus is to start with one (if any) and then get the other once the Pies have had both their byes. They are the first team after GC to get their byes out of the way so you would still have the second Pie for half the season. Not saying you can't start with both because as long as you have cover then you'll be fine.

Very close. Kudos  ;) I think it's 639,800 to be precise.

Players may be cheaper but you have to buy three extra players with the same salary cap therefore it all works out the same.

This isn't exactly true - there is a thread that explores this in depth (it was before the inflated rookie prices was know).

Expect about an extra 200K-250K per team now as opposed to the 300K-400K that thread decided on.

Nice point Redfeild i hadn't thought of that. Ah that makes it difficult.
