Hey Everyone,
been doing some research for my backline in SC 2011 im currenly looking at bench players for the backline, and ive just stumbled across Kyle Cheney at a price of $169,900 (estimate) which is also cheaper than other rookies such as Dyson Heppel,  his had a 20% discount and is now playing with hawthorn?

Does anyone have thoughts on kyle Cheney, could be be a dark horse option in 2011 or will hawthorn not really play him?

dont take a risk with him, heppell will do you good unless he gets injured

im trying to find a 3rd bench backman option atm, ive already got heppell and jacobs, just need one more but cant find a decent starter

dylsta05

do you mean a emg?? cause i would go for someone like iles, toy ?

Adz23

i might have to settle with iles or toy i think, im just a bit iffy about them cause im not sure if they will get consistent games or not and yes i meant emg, sorry i didnt state that

dylsta05

thats alright, i just think cheney is risky and his to much for a emg, iles and toy should get games

Adz23

yeah true that, just thought cheney might of been some value if hawthorn effectively used him but its 50 50 i guess, Toy it is then (Y) thank you =]

Cheney will no doubt get games at Hawthorn but the thought of him doesn't make my heart skip a beat...

He's a good player but doesnt fair good enough agaisnt the rest of the Hawks side...

Boomz

He'll get games but better value elsewhere tbh...

Totally agree. I like the way the kid plays but based on past form he isn't in our best 22.

That being said, and I think I have said this before about Puopolo, the Hawks backline isn't particularly personal reliant. By that I mean that the structure doesn't revolve around any particular key position player, mainly because we don't have a dominant key position back. They very much play a zoned team defence. So if a Hawk's defender demonstrates form on the training track and in the NAB games, he will more than likely be rewarded with a game.

Still, way to many unknowns for me to back Cheney in my SC team. If you rate him and have seen him preform well at training, then you may well have a gem on your hands. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.

Really liked this guy at Melbourne just couldnt consolidate a spot in the backline, hope he goes well at the hawks, could be a good cheap unique if he gets game time

i guess his gonna be a good option to watch during the NAB cup to see what he can do :) he might be a good option tho, really depends how much game time he gets during the year
