The way a match usually works..... (this isn't an actual example)

Commentator 1: Ablett passes to Corey, gets the ball back, kicks lace out and hits Podsiadly on the chest!
Special Commentator Malcolm Blight: That was good wasn't it?
Commentator 1: Podsiadly, takes him time, lines-up kicks the goal!
Special Commentator Malcolm Blight: That boy sure can kick. Gee it takes longer in slow motion.
Commentator 1: Will the Cats run away with it?
Special Commentator Malcolm Blight: They say goals win games...

HAHAHAHA

I actually didnt mind what she said, and I am all for women commentators, I quite like Malthouse (is it Kristy?)
But her voice sounded like fingernails running down a blackboard, glad she mainly did Geelong games!

Its little wonder we don't have any females on this site  :(
yeah, we should "stay premium".
we should all remember that a woman gave birth to every single one of us.  ;)

on the subject of Kelli, she's an unfortunate example because her voice was just really grating but the thing is regardless of male/female, she just didn't have any insightful comments to make and couldn't keep up with the play but I don't think she should be held out as an example of a failed female sports commentator.

she was annoying but as u said, i wouldnt care if she was male shes annoying

i'm just saying it shouldn't come down to male or female but whether they can do the job.

Exactly. It isn't because she was a woman, it is simply because she isn't suited to it.

Let's be honest, she was afforded positive discrimination. She wouldn't have gotten the job had she not been a woman as she didn't have the ability.

She was there to provide commentary, which is a skill not determined by footy experience, pedigree or knowledge like the role of providing special comments. You need to be quick with words and have a way of immersing people into the game, not just with the words themselves but how they are delivered - the skill of the voice.

It might be harsh but that is the entertainment industry. She was given time to learn and develop, much more than most are afforded so you can't say she wasn't given fair opportunity.

I wonder why more don't come on. I've seen passionate female supporters but don't think many would join a forum.
