so i am torn between two the dominant ruck stratergies.

i realise sandilands is the only true premium here but anyways

option 1
Two Premium's (cox, Jolly or sandilands) with petrie in forwards for cover.
i like this option as petrie can be 6 or 7 th forward scoring for you and only needs to cover for the other two on hopefully 4 occasions.

option 2
one Premium (cox, Jolly or sandilands) and petrie
i like this because ruck bench should be able to cover and can spend the money saved making one of those iffy players to an out and out gun in another position who would out score jolly and be on par with sandilands most of the time

Option1 for sure for me. Lock and forget. Petrie's great value as 5th-6th forward, but not so great value as a 2nd ruck IMO

What about a third option...

In the rucks you pick a premium and a mid priced player and Majak Daw as your 4th ruck.

You pick Petrie as a forward and use him when needed in the ruck.

You can then upgrade the mid priced player during the season or leave Petrie in the ruck.

Just a thought.

I'd have to agree. The Ruck position only requires 2 players to play, it shoud be the least stressful... Concentrate on other areas of the ground.

OR a forth ruck strategy that i recently thought of:
1 priemum ruck + 2 rookies + DPP + Petri in the fowards =
A.Sandilands, Jarred Redden, Z.Smith, M.Dew

smith and reddan should both get games and if either one of them doesnt play petrie can take their postion.
this would save you alot of cash for other positions

What do you think?

it's a tough one!

i want 'set and forget' but the temptation of having the money to use elsewhere with option 2 is looking very tasty as well.

oh the dilemma!   :D

i have to have 2 premiums, after last year  :'(

I tried something similar to that last year with Sandi, Warnock, Trengove, Lobbe and Tippett in the forward line. Unfortunately Warnock and Trengove weren't great, especially at the beginning, I suffered for it

FLOPITOUT1

How about Sandi,Fraser,Z.Smith,Daw.Petrie fwd cover for Fraser round 1 but then you have to cover Petrie in the fwd line :-\

Chopps

i just did some maths and then realised i have talked myself into the premium option

care to share those calculations chopps

yeah would be a good insight

Another option, which takes guts, is Petrie and Tippett alternating between second ruck and sixth forward.  Who knows, if Tippett finally comes good and finds his confidence it could be a masterstroke.  I thought the word from North is that Daw is nowhere near ready and we won't see much of him this year.

so i did this based on four players as it was the only way i could work it, this also only works if sandi is one of your combo, also assuming you want petrie

opt 1 (premo combo)
Sandi 418 k 97 pts
Cox 362 k 84 pts
Petrie 170 lets assume 70 pts

4th ruck mcdonald 84200 mpp could be daws and save 10k, not goin to use him anyways

vs

opt 2
Cox 362 k 84 pts
Petrie 170 lets assume 70 pts
Didak 422k 99 pts

4th ruck someone (redden maybe)

cost is the same give or take 5 grand, scoring is the same but option 2 has less cover for ruck.
