this is my third yr dt ing i generally go with an approach to get the best field out there to start with and not worry to much about cash in the bank.

cant see the point of having 200 grand in the bank if i can reduce a risk.

other opinions?

Agree Chopps. Your money doesn't earn any interest in this bank, so you may as well spend IMO.

+1 Although I like to try and keep maybe about $50k in the kitty at the start of the season

+2.  Like Fletch I keep a little emergency fund of 20-40K.

I agree - having up to $40k is ok, but not $200k.  That $200k could mean a straight upgrade of a mid priced to a gun.  Not worth it IMO

lol, I reckon if anyone has 200k left they generally have NFI on how to play fantasy.

20-40K is a resonable amount to have left over so you use that upgrade your rookies after about 7-8 weeks when they generally top out

If you’re trying for an overall win then spending all of your money at the start is the best option.

However, if you’re going for the league win it depends on how much you think a trade is worth. One of the guys I play against always keeps money aside (I think last year it was about 300K or more) and every year he has made the final and has plenty of trades left.

Personally I think that spending all the money is a better option and then in the first couple of weeks when you’re balancing your side, trade one of the non performing mid priced players for a rookie who is about to massively increase in price. That way you get rid of a bad player for a good player and end up with about 200K, an easy way to think of it is an early cash cow.

My third yr also mate and i have Taken  a similar approach with leaving no money in the bank but this year I have about 100 k but Ivan happy with my team :D

Chopps

still got changes to make and money will be freed up with that, not looking into to many risks with mid pricers only really got ottens, petrie & maybe one more risk to come,

didnt necessarily mean 200 grand spare just imply alot of spare cash

what i am after is how much ya reckon is a good starting amount left ie. 20-40 and guessing so you've got the little bit of play with picking the premium you want not the one you can afford

Like Fletch and many others have said, might put 50k aside but want to have a team that I like first, then worry about the money.

If you are going for League, JT is right, could come in handy.

Chopps

going for overall more then league that way if overall goes to hell i can concentrate on league, right now starting team i am looking at would leave me less then 10 k
