Anybody got a clue on what kind of bird this could be?

Big beak and long legs. Barely moving so brought in it from outside as it's freezing. I touch it and it does nothing so it might be sick.

A black-brown one is my medical observation ;)

Very 'Pure Blonde ad' of you HP ;D

While we are on this topic, could anyone please see if they know what type of bird this is for me?

Justin Bieber

Thanks for your insight RB. Not sure what it is so asking. Is too big to be a sparrow so got me wondering.

Haha, well I feel sorry for it. We get Crows and Magpies around our house every now and again (we chuck out food for the birds that we don't eat). So he would be helpless against the bigger birds. Also, I almost stepped on it when I went out before :-[.

*Facepalm RB :P.

Master Q

HP.

Answer 1: Leave it outside and leave so it can't see you. Come back in 10 Minutes. If it's still there, read Answer 2.

Answer 2: Call RSPCA

Justin Bieber

I did for 5 minutes. Can't fly so guessing a wing is injured.

Will call the RSPCA if it doesn't start moving soon (it's alive but very still). I've got an extra cage and put some food and water in it for it to eat/drink.

Master Q

Will it eat it?

It's should be very very scared.

Justin Bieber

It is. Have other birds around so hopefully it starts getting a little more active.

Took a while for my new birds to eat when I first brought them in, so more than likely the same case here. Food and water is there if it decides to. But don't think it would. But alot safer inside than sitting in the middle of the backyard doing the exact same thing.

Master Q

HP just one last thing.

You can't buy these birds at the shops. You can't make it a pet and it can be dangerous.

Justin Bieber

Not making it a pet ;). Just had an extra cage to keep it in before we let it go.

After a little closer inspection, wings look to be tied together (or something about it's wings). And it is in pain.

Called the RSPCA but they are closed for the night. Will call back tommorrow morning to see if they can take it in and see about it.

my analysis is that it is a bird  :P
it looks like a sparrow  ???

Justin Bieber

Looks like one but too big to be one.

Sorry HP I am not sure if it is not a sparrow :( I'm not great with birds.
It could be an abnormally large sparrow? It looks so sad I just want to hug it.

If it will not move I suggest it is either sick or injured, in which case there's not a lot you can do. The bird will probably not be very trusting seeing as it is defenceless ATM.

As you said the best thing is to call the RSPCA in the morning or if you're really cashed up and worried a vet could give you a little bit of info (There will be one on call, but it is not cheap)

Good luck HP, this is a great thing you're doing and I'm sure you have really helped the bird. Shall we name it? I feel kind of weird calling it 'the bird' D:

Looks like a Bernie to me :D
