it seams most people are choosing James Kelly, but i don't see much upside of him improving.

at the start of the Pre-season i thought that he would be getting more midfield time, thus improving his avg. However i'm not sure whether this will increase his Avg any more. due to him playing his fair share in the midfield last year.

also according to Monty Kelly had a few tagging jobs throughout the season but this could change with a new coach.

What are your thoughts?

McRooster

His average jumped by nearly 10 points from '09 to '10 but I can't see him taking that sort of leap again.
MPP gives his selection some weight especially in the midfield absence of GAJ (meaning higher rotation through the mids at the Cats, including Kelly) but he will be an expensive unique option given that he may also get tagging duties.

Roo the thing is he doesn't seam to be a unique at the moment most people have him picked in their fan planner

McRooster

It's easy to begin planning and structuring your lines around your strengths from season past and because alot of people had him in their teams at the end of last season.
His popularity will slide as season approaches and teams look to save money based on the NAB form of rookie and second tier selections.

Kelly will be a good pick up next year, probably play a running defender sort of role, gold for fantasy.

elephants

at his price he doesnt need to improve he is there solely as a gun. he is one of the first in line to take gazzas mid spot :)

MiGZ

his injury record is pretty horrid though. i think he's only played 1 full season in his career to date. with all these byes happening next year, durability is going to be high on my criteria list.

elephants

i would have thought the byes would assist injury prone players in getting through a season?

MiGZ

well yes if you look at it that way elephants. but im thinking if you have an injured player e.g. Kelly and then another player or 2 or 3 who have the bye, then it just compounds your problems... i would rather a deledio, enright or duffield who rarely get injured.

bomberboy0618

i heard he starts slow, so maybe an upgrade target?

nas

I'm 50/50 on him at this stage. Reckon he will be running out of defence a tad more but then again as said could be doing a more tagging role. The MPP is the bonus also
