Mark Seaby

2010 Stats
Games: 6
Total Score: 375
Average Score: 62.50
High: 135 (Round 2)
Low: 3 (Round 6)
Standard Deviation: 45.36
Centuries: 1 out of 6
Starting Price: $287,900
High Price: $339,200 (round 4)
Low Price: $287,900 (round 1)

Summary:

One of the more popular picks at the start of season 2010, and after 2 rounds and 217 points people were very happy. Then a 32, 71 and 52 in the next 3 rounds, before going down with an injury and scoring 3 in round 6.

Remember this guys. Mark Seaby is not a huge fantasy scorer. Although he is a a Premiership Player, he is NOT an elite player.

He averaged 63 in 22 matches across in 2007, and that was his best. Yes, he is out of Dean Cox's shadow, but is now in Shane Mumford's.

Oh, and he is also recovering from a serious injury

Seaby's feeling good, however

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $331,900 (no discount), $298,700 (10% discount), $265,500 (20% discount)

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $252,800

Position: RUC

20% discount currently in the fanplanner which puts him at a cheapish price. I'm not sure if there is room for Mumford, Seaby, White and Pyke in the Sydney line-up, and I'd wage the youthful Mumford, White and Pyke will get priority.

Decision:

If he is guaranteed games, I could possible see him slipping in as a #2 ruck if you're looking to save money. NO from me though.

Hawka

that price isnt bad but mummy is obvisouly the numver1 ruk now and maybe with pyke great last season maybe seaby is no longer 2nd ruk

nas

Junktimer

his price tag aint bad but Petrie better option IMO

Barlow 21

No Chance after being killed by cheap rucks last season. :P

+1 and if he is 3rd ruck he will be unlikely to get games even with an injury due to the sub rule

MajorLazer

His injury killed me last season. Can't see him playing much behind both Mumford and Big Mikey Pyke. Nope for me.

Behind Pyke? What are you guys smoking?

He was the number one ruckman ahead of Big Mummy before he was injured and played better than him in that time too (even though his SC average was 1 ahead)!

Before he was injured he averaged 75.

The romance of Pyke is nice and all but he isn't ahead of Seaby by any stretch.

That being said Junktimer is on the money. Petrie is probably a better option.

Junktimer

I agree. Seaby was the number 1 ruck until he got injured.  That being said, I think he will have to compete strongly, (May even be number 2) against Mummy.

Pykey just probably wont get too many games.

Oh I am with you there, Seaby is almost definitely the number 2 ruck now after the season that Mumford had.

However there is a slight chance that we may see, like I predict many clubs will, only one main ruck then a ruck/forward or defensive instead of a second ruck to free up the bench.

If Sydney goes this way, then Jesse White will get the gig, however he is yet to prove he can consistently perform, despite his potential, so he is not an automatic selection. If I was a coach I wouldn't be building structures around a player who isn't always good enough to be in the 22 however I am certainly not excluding the possibility.

1st Ruck Mumford
2nd Ruck Seaby
3rd Ruck Pyke

MajorLazer

Ok, so Seaby should be at least No. 2, but it can still depend on his pre-season form and training. Either way, I'm not taking him.

Same

Boomz

Pyke had a good year Seaby sat on the boundary he won't just jump straight back in as 2nd ruck.

Junktimer

if he has a full pre season i think he will.

key word: IF.
