Daniel Gorringe

Summary:
Height: 198cm
Weight: 88kg
DOB: 02/06/92
Club: Norwood (SA)
Style: Nic Naitanui/Patrick Ryder

Gorringe was the standout in terms of performance across the U18s carnival. He showed himself to be a thinking ruckman, able to overcome his marginal lack of height (198cm) by leaping high and early and working on angles, and he slotted the ball down a teammate's throat more often than any other big man.

He describes himself as a skilful, athletic, hard-working ruckman with a rover's mentality.

As a junior, played as a tall centreman then underwent a rapid growth spurt.  Played some TAC Cups as a 196cm midfielder.  In light of this, is very mobile.

The top rated ruckman in the draft is well advanced on his peers at tap work.  Expert stoppage exponent who has a prodigious vertical leap.  Also dangerous near goal.  Great foundation for Gold Coast.

In the U/18 Championships, Gorringe averaged 21 hit outs, 10 disposals and nearly a goal a game.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on m0nty's fanplanner

Price: $167,500

Position: RUCK (very unlikely but could be FWD/RUC or MID/RUC)

Decision:

Despite his aforementioned raw ability, Gorringe is a raw, skinny young ruckman.  First year rucks are in most cases a no-no, and Gorringe is no exception IMO.  His price tag does not do him in any favours.  Can't say a flat no to a rookie, but would need a miracle.

Will you select Gorringe in 2011?

PS: How'd I go ML ? ;)

Eh decent. :P

He won't be in my team. Too pricey as a bench ruck and too risky for a second ruck.

agreed, if he doesn't play in 2011 (possibility), could be one for 2012.

Nice quote changing. :P

He's just at that awkward price rnage for the rucks. Can't see him being in many teams, as many will have set and forget rucks. Mine may be Kreuzer, Ryder, Smith and someone else.

Junktimer

and hes too exy to sit on your bench, especially if he wont play much

Gold Coast are such an unknown quantity. Making matters worse is we won't know the first 22 until round 2 :(

Junktimer

true ossie.  i reckon they will play fraser and smith as their rucks though.  agreed?

Probably, with Day in the forward line

+1 cant really see him pulling a lot of big scores, and that's if he plays
