Summary:

2010 finally saw the improving Melbourne Demons be able to discard Brad Miller. It is harsh, but Miller was never the player he could have been at Melbourne, and was often a liability. Well respected at the club off the field, his selflessness was best highlighted when the Demons offered him a farewell match in Round 22, but he refused so that he could help his VFL team in the finals.

Miller's best season in Supercoach terms was 2008. Where he played 18 matches at the average of 64.4. In a career stretching back until 2002, it is fair to say Miller falls into the Spud category. But he was given a life-line! Richmond, looking for support for rising Star Jack Riewoldt, gave Miller a rookie spot list with the hope he can guide the youngsters and plug a few holes.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $227,500, $204,700 (10% discount), $182,000 (20% discount)

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $173,300

Position: FWD

He is cheap. But for a good reason. Not guaranteed a spot in Richmond's best 22, and will most likely play a lot of VFL.

Decision:

Do not get tempted by name recognition. Miller has extremely little upside, and unless a strong preseason suggests otherwise, he should be a strong NO for anyone.

A simple no, still suprised that the Tigers picked him up. Thought they could do better...

I just dont think he's worth it unless he's discounted by like 30-40% (and he'll probably only get a 10% discount). He's only averaged more than 56 once (2008: 64). Apart from the occasional brilliant game he's a spud and i dont think at 28 he'll have a breakout year. Plus it isnt 100% clear to me how many games he'll get..

Depends on where the rookies get classified but i think youngsters like Pitt, Lamb, Richardson, Matera, Tapscott etc - who will be cheaper than Miller - offer greater potential upside..

Torress

very unlikely 4 me as well. yea rookies can offfer better reward for cheaper, even despite the fact he is rather cheap. you'd be a bit of a crank to actually end up with him in ur 22, as you wouldn't have him on the emg line at that price.

Junktimer

very unlikely, would need a miracle.  wont rule it out though at that price

Boomz

Unless theres a miracle or I lose my memory I will never pick him.

Hawka

well they need a bak up to voldt so u never no he mite play but rely unlickley for me
