Nathan Ablett

2007 Stats
Games: 18
Total Score: 1031
Average Score: 57.2

Summary:

A special request from Luigi197 for a Nathan Ablett player profile, from the thread he started here.

Nathan Ablett has something that only two other Gold Coast players (along with Gary Ablett and Campbell Brown) have - a Premiership. So you would have thought he would be guaranteed from the outset. Not burdened with the same level of scrutiny as his older brother Gary, Nathan still decided to retire after Geelong's 2007 Premiership win, before deciding to try his hand again in the less football mad world of the Gold Coast.

But Premiership Player does not mean great player. In 2007, he played 18 regular season games for an SC average of 57.2. That is mediocre at a very generous best.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on m0nty's fanplanner

Price: $87,500

Position: FWD

Part of me thinks that because of NAblett's previous AFL experience, a price of $87,500 as in the fanplanner is a bit low. He could be as much as $150k if they discount his 2007 stats. At $87,500, he probably provides decent cash cow value with a lack of certainty over the Gold Coast's forward line. I think he will get a go early, but struggle in points of the season.

Decision:

I'll give him a short list. Remember, the Gold Coast have a bye in round 1, so if you're not certain he's gonna be selected in round 2, I wouldn't pick him.

Fletch74

Definite cash cow for me, short listed for now, also depends on if I in for Prestia as well

Justin Bieber

I'll probably get Dixon and maybe Matera at this stage. Could I fit in Ablett in? WHo knows yet.

I've shortlisted him, as at 87k and previous AFL experience could prove him to be a good cash cow.

Torress

getting the wrong gold coast cheapies will annoy the crap out of u in 2011.. prestia probably gets more of a nod from my point of view atm. but i haven't really seen him play and we all have no idea who has what role. but prestia just looks like a machine. nath ablett i give a shortlist, but lets weigh up dixon, matera and prestia 1st

Luigi197

Thanks Ossie!!! You are truly the best!!  ;D

i agree with Torress. There are other players from GCU which ppl would rather in their team at the moment, as seen by teams posted...
It will be interesting to see how he turns out, i guess we'll wait..

Junktimer

50/50 from me.  he has always had commitment issues, and GC's forward line is an unknown quantity, will dixon, day, may or ablett be the KPP forwards, who knows?

much more inclined to get prestia or matera.

+1 i have more confidence in prestia or matera then nablett, it may depend on how much gablett gets the ball though  ;)

MajorLazer

I will most likely be taking Prestia and if I needed a second GC forward it would be Matera. Unlikely.

BoredSaint

touch and go.. we'll probably play cause of his age :D

Same, Prestia and Matera for me. :D

SydneyRox

NAB form will be interesting, and how they structure the forward line, he is in with a chance, but agree that others from GC are in front right now

Hawka

i reckon he is in the best 22 so on the short list for me

Same. :( Gary may be an upgrade target thought and if he is listed Fwd/Mid :D.

Yeah I just think there are options that can score almost as well for a fair bit cheaper...
