Jamie Charman

Summary:

Injury has severely restricted Jamie Charman. Missed all of 2010, and played only 3 matches in 2009. Yet the Lions have kept faith in him, as they should. Big men are hard to find, and Charman was close to All-Australian a few years ago. The emergence of Mitch Clark and Matthew Leuenberger in recent years have lessened the pressure on Charman to prove his worth, but may make it harder for him to get back in the side. Again, starts the year with an interrupted preseason.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $106,200

Position: RUC

I can't help but feel the Lions would not have perservered with Charman if they did not believe he will contribute. He has never been a massive scorer in fantasy terms, but at his price he does provide huge value if he can somehow find himself fit and in the best 22.

Decision:

On the short list. As a 3rd or 4th ruck could prove very handy. A lot depends on whether he has another injury set back or not. Has anyone heard any news on him?

At that price he must be considered as 4th ruck, but unlikely for me

+1 and I think there is better young ruckmen who would be better suited to that 4th ruck position.

It still puzzles me as to why Charman is there....??

Boomz

I'm with fletch no idea why they kept him tbh... If he looks like getting regular games then Ill lock him in as 4th ruck but think he'll go down again anyway...

I reakon almost a lock for 4th.him and day as the reserves would be great

There are several reasons why I dont believe Charman is worth selecting.

1) Leunberger has the number one ruck role at Brisbane. Clark who can play up forward is his back up.

2) Only three interchange players now so no room to carry an extra ruck

3) His history with injuries means Charman is a risk despite the above two reasons.

Pro: If Clark or Leunberger get a long term injury then Charman could make a very good replacement

Negative: Already the Lions have Fevola and Brown in their forward line. Even if one of Leunberger or Clark get injured. There is no certainity they will bother to replace them. An extra midfielder may just be handy as St Kilda found in the first grand final in 2010.

Ultimately if in pre season it looks like Brisbane favour Charman over Leunberger. I may reconsider but in the mean time I'm curious about the young Gold Coast ruck Zac Clarke and how he will share the ruck with Fraser or Gorringe.

pyronerd

the only way i can see Charman playing games is if brisbane get unlucky with ruck injuries so a no from me i think

Maca24

no chance. odds on he will re-injure himself.

Hawka

only a hope if berger or clarks injured at the start of nxt yr
