Myles Sewell is not going to be an aFL player for yet another year after being overlooked once again  ???

That's dumb. Unless he has a massive attitude problem he's surely worth a shot on most team's rookie list. He'll probably end up at GWS next year.

Didn`t get picked by GWS in the rookie draft which is strange. Back to the VFL I supposse. >:(

He doesn't have the body strength. The feedback he got last year was that he wasn't good enough inside. Clearly he hasn't reached the level that clubs wanted him to be at.

I reckon thats' a rubbish excuse for not picking him up hawk_88, he weighs 80 kilos now, which is a respectable weight, regardless his skills and talent should had got him drafted anyway. It's hard to fathom one of the best players in the VFL still hasn't been picked up.

hawk_88

Weight isn't the issue it is muscle mass. As much as people like to think clubs are stupid they aren't that stupid. All 18 clubs passed on him over a number of years. They have had much more time to see him play much more senior footy than most draftees and clearly haven't seen what they are looking for.

I like the kid but it isn't an excuse. The clubs don't find things they don't like, they find things they like and clearly they didn't like him.

when people say weight they mean muscle mass. and i wouldnt say 80 kilos is much in afl circles. if he is going to play as mature ager in the middle he should be up around 84-85. maybe you're right hawk88, they just havent seen enough.

i agree i think its harsh to overlook a player because he doesnt have a big enough frame, i know its important in modern day afl but still the blokes a talent and woud have an immediate impact for sure.

hawk_88

If they thought he would they would have taken him. 18 clubs overlooked him. I like him but it is hard to argue with that.

What is more than likely is that they feel he wont have an immediate impact because of his lack of inside ability and strength. Why would a club waste a spot on a mature player they don't think will have an impact when he can be left to develop outside of the club and picked up the following year if he develops as needed?

i guess we'll see in 2012 at GWS  ;)

I think that is almost the least likely club to pick him up now. They could have taken him and developed him as they wanted with no risk this year and didn't.

If he develops over the year, I could see West Coast, Port, Brisbane and possibly Essendon taking him.
