So our forward line is better defensively?

valkorum

I think we need Balla, Mayne, Walters and Fyfe in the forward line.  All 4 can kick goals and put on a lot of defensive pressure.

They will need to because it is no secret that defensive pressure is something Anthony struggles with, I think mianly because he is slow at ground level.

It will be interesting.

SydneyRox

yeah, this is one of the interesting picks IMO

Freo need Jack at his best, but he struggled to produce that consistantly.

You might even question his work ethic too, since no one can question he has the skills.

Cicjose

Does that mean if Mayne or Ballantyne go out of the team for injury, do we lose our defensive pressure or have we got the bench players to keep that happening?

No, there will be someone else who can step up in to those roles seeing as (for the first time that I can remember) we actually have depth players who can come in to the side and play at a AFL level.

I am just saying that IMO I think they are the best 4 players to play alongside 2 talls in the forward line.  Mayne plays as a third tall who can crumb as well.

DeBoer applies stacks of Defensive Pressure.

valkorum

DeBoer is a monster at applying defensive pressure up forward.  Love watching him do that - just don't like watching him kick for goal

+1

valkorum

The training reports I have read are saying that DeBoer is practising his shot for goal a fair bit, so hopefully he can improve this season.

Junktimer

anthony is a one dimensional forward who has a great set shot.  He will help take attention off other forward options, but not a hell of a lot else.

IMO that is all we want him for.  That way the defense cant just put 2 guys on Pav - I would much rather have Pav only having to compete against 1 opponent.

yeah decoys actually help in AFL

valkorum

Especially when the player who benefits from the decoy is THE PAV!

MajorLazer

The PAVlova sounds more menacing. :P
